Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 11, 2011 6:10 pm Hi! Thought I'd start a thread for our build. We settle on our land in 2 weeks (and 2 days....but who's counting???)! I can't wait!! We have accepted our tender for the build. We are building a Saville 22. We have a narrow but long block so it is drawn to suit the block. We both liked the Saville anyway so were happy when the plans they had for the block were a Saville. Changes we made to the plans (to date) * turned the media room into a 4th bedroom * extended the alfresco area by 1.5m * changed the windows in the rumpus to one large window rather than two narrow ones Still to change as we go along: * changing our pantry to be partially walk in. There was "dead space" on the original plans so want to utilise it * upgrading the ducted as it won't be big enough to work effectively I will upload the floor plan soon. It is the original one so won't have all the changes. Our start date isn't until the end of Feb 2012. Would love it if they started early but won't hold my breath!!!! Trying to decide on colours.....ouch! That just hurts my head. Will update as things happen! Our land settled today so we are the proud owners of a lump of dirt!!! Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build 8Oct 27, 2011 7:03 pm Congratulations on settlement!!! Good luck with colour selections. You're right, it does hurt your head. I found it easier to pic a few things that I loved and base the other choices around them. Check out other people's threads for ideas too. Keep us posted, and bring on the piccies Jess Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build 9Oct 27, 2011 7:16 pm Thanks boganswife. We are going looking at bricks on Saturday....I "think" we have made our decision but we will see what our thoughts are when we are looking at the real deal rather than just an image on the computer. There will be LOTS of photos!!!! I think it is a bit sad that my 3 year old daughter wants to go and look at "empty houses" all the time now. Do you think we've dragged her through too many display homes???? Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build 10Oct 27, 2011 8:47 pm Congratulations on finally owning a very expensive pile of dirt. I look forward to following your build. We are building just on the other side of Old Windsor Rd in the new Balmoral road area, so nearly neighbours Our Eden Brae Saville build 11Oct 27, 2011 9:41 pm Oh nice gogo!!!! Who are you building with and what stage are you at? Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build 12Oct 28, 2011 6:52 am We are building with zen homes we have had major delays with the land, our land has now been registered for a month but due to issues with the developer we haven't been able to settle we still officially don't own the piece of dirt but are hoping that everything gets finalised in the next week or two. We have been able to submit plans, so they have been in council just over two weeks. We are hoping for a site start in December with hopefully a slab before Christmas so not to far ahead of you, although at one stage we thought we would be in by Christmas Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build 13Oct 28, 2011 7:10 am I hope your settlement goes through quickly!!!! Would have been nice to be in by Christmas!!! We don't start til Feb (seems like a lifetime away) but I think EB are getting ready to submit our plans to council. So we went out to PGH and chose our bricks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then we went to Di Lorenzo and checked out the tiles. Holy cow there are a lot to choose from!!!! We have decided on all our tiles though!!! Floor coverings: tiles are the colour of the big tile, outdoor tiling done to the alfresco will be the dark charcoal tile, dark carpet will be for the lounge room and dining (aka TOYS!) room and the light carpet is for the bedrooms Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And for the bathroom and ensuite....we will be having the corner tile for the floors, white tiles for the walls and then the mosaic for the feature. We are building the Lincoln with EBH at The Ponds and looked at Dilorenzo over the weekend. Did you upgrade the bricks/tiles/carpet or were you happy with the standard selection? Our Eden Brae Saville build 16Nov 01, 2011 8:31 pm We stayed with standard. Trying VERY hard not to upgrade!!!! Did you find anything you liked? Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build 17Nov 03, 2011 8:05 pm We had our colour appointment today. O.M.G. What a day! Happy to say it was done and dusted in about 4 1/2 hours. I am so glad we went and chose our bricks and floor coverings or I'm sure it would have taken much longer. Upgrades.....we kept things fairly standard (thankfully). We upgraded the kitchen sink, ensuite shower head, shower screens to bathroom and ensuite, got soap baskets instead of the holders and I think that was pretty much it. We are waiting on our drawings for the kitchen as we have extended the depth of the pantry. As for cupboards etc, we have to discuss that over the weekend! We are getting quotes on window coverings and fly screens as well.
