Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build Up bottom pg 1 - colours!!! 22Jan 05, 2012 2:18 pm Hi Sydbuild, we have our colour appointment booked for 13 Jan but still undecided and as PGH and Dilorenzo are closed until 9th Jan I am feeling a bit sick about it . On your first colour appointment what decisions did you have to make? I have been told by the Home Options Gallery that I have to know what bricks, tapware and door handles we would like for the first appointment and that there will be another appointment made to decide on electrical, stairs, tiles and carpet etc. Is this what happened for you? I am assuming we will also need to know what changes to the Kitchen we would like on our first appointment. When did you need to know paint colours for walls? Hi Jencal Sorry, I only just saw this post. How did your appointment go??? benblinkau What did the fly screens end up costing you? We've been quoted $40 per flyscreen for the windows. Still trying to get other quotes for the stacker doors. I am amazed at how difficult it is to get a quote on window coverings actually. Two places just haven't gotten back to us with prices which astounds me as we are looking at getting everything for the whole house - guess they don't want the work!!!! Ok, an update on our little build. We got council approval just after New Year So now we just have to wait until they actually start which isn't until the end of Feb. The weather at the moment isn't exactly "builder friendly" though. Hopefully the end of Feb will see sunshine! Couple of plans to add to my thread. The kitchen. We made a few changes to the kitchen. Moved the dishwasher so it was under the sink and then added to cupboard doors to the back of the bench (otherwise they were drawn up as void areas either side of the sink!!!!). We extended our pantry too which I am really excited about. I can not wait to see this built!!!!! So far the process has been fairly smooth. The only hiccup we had was over a powerpoint! Who would think one single powerpoint could cause such a headache. All sorted now though thankfully. Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 26Feb 11, 2012 7:04 pm Still waiting for the letter from the bank to say all is in order. Apparently it should be sorted by Monday. I will be so much happier when that is done. How on earth am I going to cope for the next 7 or 8 months???? I have been ok up until now, but now that it is all getting closer to becoming a reality, I just want my house!!!!! Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 29Feb 13, 2012 3:03 pm Thanks Mclaren. I was very excited when I saw them! Seems like it was forever ago since we put the deposit down on the land and then the house. I am hoping it all goes quickly from here on in but somehow, I get the feeling it is going to be the longest year (or part there of) of my life!!!!!! Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 30Feb 13, 2012 3:09 pm That's how I felt this time last year - the slab went down on Feb 22 and here we are almost a year later and all settled in ... some parts drag and others fly .. fingers crossed for a stress-free build!! Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 32Feb 13, 2012 4:59 pm Hi, I am looking to build a new Eden Brae home and I had a question about the front door. What is the standard door now? When my sister built 3 years ago it was the 'Eden door' (with three large panes of glass) but the sales person I was dealing with said that this type of door was an extra. I'm not talking about a stained wooden door but the cheaper one that is painted. What type of door were you able to have? Thanks for the information. Dearheart Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 33Feb 13, 2012 5:15 pm Our standard door has glass. We are painting it too. It either has 3 or 4 panes of glass. Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 34Feb 13, 2012 5:22 pm Was it the door with the large panes of glass - so that when you look at the door you are seeing mostly glass?? I know that some are reversed and only have quite small panes. Thanks Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 35Feb 13, 2012 5:24 pm Let me see what I can find for you!!!! I may be able to find a picture somewhere. Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 37Feb 13, 2012 5:31 pm Ok, I had a look and we have the Eden 3G door as standard. What house are you looking at building? Or more so, which "series" is it? OUrs is a lifestyle series so not sure if that makes a difference or not. Its in the Smart Living series but all the inclusions are the same as in the Lifestyle series. Thanks a lot - that takes a load off my mind. Our house building blog: http://shellgavshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Our Eden Brae Saville build * update pg 2 - kitchen draw 40Feb 13, 2012 5:50 pm I'm very early in the process. My tender appointment isn't actually until next week but i already know most things that I want to upgrade so I want to put them in the tender as this is the paperwork that will be going to the bank. I have already decided most of the main things - bricks, roof, tiles etc. Probably too organised but what are you going to do. Did you upgrade your brick or did you find one that you liked in the range? I'm looking at Mild Steel - its an upgrade but I didn't really like anything that was cheaper. I'm just hoping that its not too much extra. I built with EB back on 2009.
