Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 10, 2011 3:57 pm Hi There I am very new to this but am very worried about some things i have read on review sites about Kurmond. The prices are great, and the layout exactly what we are after, love the inclusions. BUT - i have read alot of peoples comments saying that either they have - or someone they know has walked away from their deposits due to the terrible service that they have been given. Has anyone built with, or nearly built with Kurmond and can share some advice / experiences with me? I would truly love any advice at this stage Thanks in advance Re: Needing Advice Please .... RE : Kurmond 2Oct 10, 2011 7:04 pm Hi Gong and Welcome, We serioulsy looked at Kurmond Homes and had a tender done, we were very happy with the original tender, went back in to Kurmond sat down with Peter the owner to fnalise a few things, spoke about the changes to the layout we wanted and how that would work. Up to that point we were very happy. BUT we have never had a phone call or any contact with them again. We were going to spend 450k with them and they never called us to follow up, arrange an appointment to sit down with their designer, nothing, zilch contact since then That to me was all we needed, we walked and have signed with a different builder that has better inclusions for a better price. I do know personally of a neighbour who also had to request her deposit back when the salesperson swore at her and her family, Everything I have read is that the service is very poor, very poor communication. However our friend owns a framing company and he does some of their frames and roof trusses, he believes they build a good home. Hoep that helps a little. Do a search for Hep, he is building with them and has a blog, you may get some more info from him Re: Needing Advice Please .... RE : Kurmond 3Oct 13, 2011 9:48 pm One of my friend started with Kurmond. I know they had lots of issues at the start. The office was very slow & the costings for variations builder did not include in their final tender documents. So they said they would need extra 20K out of pocket as could not get from the bank. Staff change very frequently and does not answer calls. After council approval builder got three months to get the Construction certificate (usually 1-2 weeks job). I will try to get info about the construction side. Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time.
