Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New house blog Bricks done 61Apr 20, 2012 4:00 pm Met our new site supervisor for the first time today, he seems like a pretty awesome bloke. Pointed a couple of concerns out to him and he will action them as soon as possible. Have also had all the insulation put in and all gas pipes. Apparently the plastering will be done by mid next week, with kitchen to be done within the next couple of weeks. Very exciting times ahead. Re: New house blog Bricks done 62Apr 20, 2012 4:04 pm His name wouldn't happen to be Andrew White? Our SS changed last week as well to a new guy...LOL if it's the same guy. Apparently the whole SS switching thing is really common, apparently a build all with the same SS is pretty uncommon. We hadn't ever spoken to our last SS. Although I was talking to the company who is looking after our fencing and front landscaping and he asked whether our SS was an Andrew, so he must be a relatively well known SS for Sterling. Re: New house blog Bricks done 64Apr 20, 2012 4:59 pm Wow your house has past mine now Nglbuilder... I'm still bricking Brickies envisage finishing off next week and having the platerboard delivered next week to be installed the following week, althought I'm getting insulation through out every wall too so I guess it may take a little longer than 1 week with that and the electrical happening. Exciting times, can't wait to see yours finished!! The electrical work was done really quickly though and we had added a lot of powerpoints and tv/phone points as well. the insulation went in essentially in one day. Went there today and there is plasterboard everywhere... Was good to get a timeline for when everything is scheduled to get done... Good luck with your bricking getting finished... Public holiday will be a bit of a disruption. Re: New house blog Bricks done 66Apr 20, 2012 5:59 pm Oh and the land developers contractors have been out this week and put the posts in for our side fence... So our house will be nice and secure with privacy before the day we move in Re: New house blog Bricks done 67Apr 23, 2012 8:32 am Thanks for that, yeh I asked them last week if they have Wednesday off but they said they will work it... this week is going to be pretty ordinary weather wise so I hope it doesn't affect it at all. Fingers crossed still for Friday BB Barossa Bubbles Building own design Fairmont Homes viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51265&hilit=Barossa+Bubbles Roof on-bricks next Re: New house blog Bricks done 68Apr 23, 2012 10:19 am I had to have a laugh as i read your post bubbles, as it just started to bucket with rain... Re: New house blog: **Plastered** 76Apr 25, 2012 5:47 pm Looks great! You are lucky to have a flat block so no retaining walls. Start counting down the days it won't be long... 2 Block settled - 08/08/2011 Site scraped - 09/12/2011 Slab - 19/01/2012 Frames - 13/02/2012 Roof - 01/03/2012 Bricks - 19/03/2012 Lock-up - 19/04/2012 Hand over - 05/06/2012 Re: New house blog: **Plastered** 77Apr 25, 2012 6:21 pm We were really careful when we were looking at land, luckily all the area we are building in used to be housing trust homes so most of the sites were largely flattened when originally built on and flattened even further when the demolition was done. All our site required was a bit of cut and fill, the only annoying thing is obviously there is a gap between the bottom of fence and the ground... I know it is a really petty thing compared to the cost of getting retaining walls... I am really happy though we have got our side fences done already. Re: New house blog: **Plastered** 78Apr 28, 2012 3:11 pm What I have found particularly frustrating over the past couple of days is there has been crap all done and there is plenty to be done... Would have been happy if they had at least stuck the cornices up.... Decent weather as well... Cant see a good excuse. Re: New house blog: **Plastered** 79Apr 28, 2012 6:51 pm Yeah not much has happened for us over the last few days, come on builders! Also for the gap in the fence there is a cheap option to put a board in between the fence and the ground, I think the make specific ones just for that. Check at bunnings. Fingers crossed something happens this week 2 Block settled - 08/08/2011 Site scraped - 09/12/2011 Slab - 19/01/2012 Frames - 13/02/2012 Roof - 01/03/2012 Bricks - 19/03/2012 Lock-up - 19/04/2012 Hand over - 05/06/2012 Re: New house blog: **Plastered** 80Apr 28, 2012 10:00 pm That sounds like a pretty good idea regarding the fence will look into it.
