For a 4x4 it really depends on the car itself. Is it modified? If so by the time you add a roof rack and bigger tyres you probably won't fit through the door let alone open the tailgate. We have 9ft (2700mm) ceiling in our house and so does the garage, but we made the door openings 2400(minus a little for the plate on the bottom of the door) So we should finish with a 2300ish door opening. You should get most 4x4 through that don't have bigger tyres+ more than 2 inch lift in there. Your biggest problem will probably be depth. By the time you park, add space at front to walk around it, space at rear to open tail gate and walk around, you really need 7m of depth to comfortably get around a 4x4 (Patrol/LandCruiser/RangeRover) in a garage. We added an extra foot of width, but I wanted to make it 7w x 7 deep, just ran out of room on the block to keep other rooms of good size. If you have the room go for a min of 7m wide x 7m deep for a double garage. Adding ceiling height in the house SHOULD also raise garage height. Get the max possible door opening you can. Re: garage height for 4X4 or hatchbacks? 4Oct 11, 2011 9:44 am If you can, extend the depth of the garage. We had the standard size, didn't think much of it. My partner has a commodore size car (maybe a fraction longer) and it JUST squeezes in. There is less than a hand length between his car and the wall and his car and the garage door. There is enough room width way but it could do with some more room to get in and out more easier. I would have extended it a metre if i knew about it then. Never thought of measuring it as i have a small car! Unless the room is for storage then it's non compliant BCA V2 2019 S3 P3.8 You have 2 options 1.
