Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 09, 2011 5:02 pm Hi all, Been reading the forums for a short time and enjoy the various posting and wealth of information here. Have put in a deposit for an Amalfi632 with MainVue Homes, who are new builders but they are backed by the Henley-Sumitomo group of companies. I was wondering if there are any others currently building with MainVue, so we can share our experiences as we go through the often difficult but highly rewarding path to building our new dream home. Thank you all for your time. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 2Oct 18, 2011 8:03 pm We are about to build with them. What has your experience been so far with them. I must admit I am somewhat concerned as I have read so many negative reports about Henley and after all I think MainVue are basically Henely Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 3Oct 18, 2011 8:14 pm Hi guys, Someone I know has signed with them and are at contract stage. From the discussions I have had with them they are stating that they are struggling to get their act together. They are at the point of pulling out altogether. To give you some examples.... Their tender had taken 5 times to get right (they didnt change much from the display) Their contract signing has been pushed back 3 times as the drawings are never right They are charging them to the hills for items (they were originally charged 16K for double glazed windows and after I instructed to question it was 6k) Very disorganised... but each to their own... Hope this helps.. We completed the process in less than 4 hrs. The color stylists was very helpful and provided very sound advice that it was easy to just go with her recommendations. So far I've had good experience with MainVue, but it's still early stages. I guess the big test will be at the tender stage which will be in 2 weeks time. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 6Oct 22, 2011 9:27 am Hi all, We are building with Mainvue, signed the contract this week and building in an established area. So far, getting to this stage has taken a bit longer than we expected and there has been a lot of things that needed clarification and after 2 tender appointments and lots of emails we are happy with the result... So far, we had a great sales guy, fantastic tender presenter and contract signing was a good experience, however we did end up with a few post contract variations, but this may be standard, not sure. We anticipate starting to build in 4-6 weeks and would love to hear from others building with Mainvue. The home we selected is Emporio 432... Hi Almiro, Glad to know someone else other than myself is building with Mainvue. Just wanted to ask if you met with Mainvue's electrical people, prior to the first tender. My tender is the week after and Mainvue has not contacted me yet regarding an appointment with the electrician, so just getting a bit worried. Also wanted to ask if you went with the fixed site cost and if you were satisfied that their site cost was reasonable ? Was there a big difference between the original quotation and your final contract cost ? Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 8Oct 23, 2011 6:55 pm Hi Edb, Yes, it is good to hear that someone else is building with Mainvue too... The Mainvue electrical contractor contacted us several times directly which is what they said is going to happen. We ended up going with the luxury electrical pack only, although we wanted a few other additional things. We a got couple of quotes and thought that pricing was unreasonable... If you are at the tender stage you should get Mainvue to organise an appointment with Argus, or call them directly maybe, not sure... As far as the site costs are concerned, we were not offered fixed price site costs, but our block isn't sloppy... Our site costs are currently at 20K and contain several provisional items that most likely won't be charged in the end... We though that was reasonable as we tried another builder prior to this and they said the site costs will be about 50k... Regarding the difference in costs between original quotation and final cost, yes there was a substantial difference, but this was not entirely their fault... We changed a few things, added a few things. They really try their best to give you the closest figure at the start and did a pretty good job with that, I thought. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 10Nov 11, 2011 9:39 am Hi , building the Amalfi 532 with the rumpus option , Dealing with saltwater coast , XP has been fantastic , Very effecient extremely helpful , knowledge of home and choices has been excellent . Responds to all E mails and phone calls he has been great to deal with , and probably the main reason along with the quality of the house we decided to explore the option of potentially building with Mainvue . Completed our color selection with the interior designer , DS young lady who also was an absolute pleasure to work thru our color choices with , Knowledge and advise with all selections and color schemes was fantastic and very proffessional , Very helpful and her input was invaluable to get the right mix thru out our home . Again cannot fault , pleasure to deal with. We were appointed our operations representative JD , Again the way she has handled my File , queries , changes and any advise i have sought has been fantastic and much appreciated , always responds promptly to e mails and returns phone calls . Has made this stage of the process an easy one . Am due to go thru the final tender in the next week , hopefully goes as smooth as all the other stages in the process to this time . I am in the construction industry and this is the first time we have built , enjoy reading the comments of others , not one to usually post on forums , but came accross this one doing my research , and as it is such a big deal in peoples family lives happy to contibute my thoughts on mainvue homes . So far ( fingers crossed ) mainvue have been great to deal with , i can only give an honest appraisal of my dealings to this stage , it may change down the track thruout the building process ( Hopefully not !!!!) . People who i know ,who have built advised me it all depends on your building supervisor who is handling your home ( i better get a excellent one ) All in all as of 11th november would highly recommend building with Mainvue homes , Hoping this remains the case thru out our new home building experience . Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 11Nov 11, 2011 3:59 pm Welcome mj25. The list of people building with Mainvue is growing. Good luck with your tender next week. I'm having 2 minds about employing the services of a building inspector, as Mainvue says they already employ an independent inspector to check on each phase of the construction and can provide the reports. Building inspectors do cost a fair bit. Are you guys thinking of hiring one ? Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 12Nov 13, 2011 10:09 am Hi guys We are also building with Main Vue. We chose the Emporio 430 and are waiting on them to start building. Im hoping it will be really soon. So far the people we have dealt with have been good. We did have quite a few errors in the contract though so would advise you to read through it over and over. I would also recommend a private building inspector regardless of who the builder is, especially if this is the first time you are building, like we are. Where is everyone building? Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 13Nov 14, 2011 8:15 am Hi MD@KEYS. I'm building at Greenvale Gardens, land wont be ready till end of Jan. 2012, so I'm hoping for a May build time frame. Hope everything goes well with your Emporio build. It's a very nice design, was one of the houses we had in mind initially. Keep us posted if you will on your Mainvue experience. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 14Nov 21, 2011 12:12 pm Hello fellow MainVue-rs! I've been searching for a topic on building with MainVue, when i stumbled upon this thread...we are looking to build with MainVuew homes too...the Amlfi 532 with a double+ garrage. Our land in Truganina doesn't title until mid next year, so we've only just completed our colour appointment, as of now, our experience has been very satisfactory, right from the sales consultant XP to colour/interior designer DZ. We did look at all possible builders under the sun, even some boutique builders, but keeping our budget in mind, finding a floorplan with minimum alterations to suit our needs and quality of their houses, MainVue came out on top. Looking at our quote after the colour appointment, the price has shot up(almost 40%) from their listed price which is a substantial increase, but that's partly because we have opted for a fair bit of upgrades, but then again there are may things which are very heavily overpriced too. Anyway, i reckon our experience has been 'so far so good'. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 15Nov 24, 2011 6:20 pm Was wondering if anyone out there has already started construction with MainVue. Would love to hear your experiences. Likewise has anyone used the financial services of Henley, i.e Waterstone Financial Services to secure a bank loan ? I was told that by going through them you get a $1000 rebate on your final contract price plus you can defer the initial payment during contract signing and move it to start of construction instead. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 16Nov 25, 2011 7:16 pm hi edb, We went through Westpac, i know they dont have the cheapest home loan on the market, but one thing worth considering is the relationship of the broker and with the bank u take a loan with, especially during construction. My wife worked in the loan construction area of a big 4 bank, and we know 1st hand what happens when payments and work completed don't agree and the bank refuses to release payments and what not. Especially during construction your broker/loan manager should able to pull strings to resolve issues quickly when things get stuck. Our Loan Manager was a Ex-Westpac Bank Manger, so he knows the team who handles the construction loan. Hope this helps.
