Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 281Apr 28, 2013 9:31 am Hi Everyone. Been awhile since my last post. The wait till handover to Mainvue has been agonisingly slow! We have had some issues with City West Water approving our plans for the shed over easement and as such they won't approve our relocation of the sewer tie in without the shed so we have had to get revised engineering drawings to resubmit. The pool is looking fab though and can already imagine how it's going to work in well with the house. Have been busy this weekend building a cover over the pool. We got quotes for $4000 for a cover which was rather extreme. Our pool builder is quite shocked that we have to cover it. It's the first pool that isn't directly up to the house that they have seen requiring a cover. We are using 100x100 cypress fencing posts to support corrugated iron top. The pool area will also be fenced off. Now working towards handing over the block at the end of May or early June...not sure if this delay will ruin our dream of moving in by Christmas. Great to hear everyone's progress. Have loved reading all your comments and would love to see some more pics of your progress. TTVA - Did you get some resolution on the timber windows? Very interested to hear how you went as I think we have the same windows. thanks Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 282May 02, 2013 10:08 am Hi Guys, has anyone had issues with putting the laundry taps into the base cupboards instead of being on the wall? It just looks like a bit of an eyesore and MainVue are refusing to 'hide' them. It seems on display they are tucked away under the laundry basin cupboards.. anyone's thoughts? Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 283May 02, 2013 5:23 pm dhoon Hi Guys, has anyone had issues with putting the laundry taps into the base cupboards instead of being on the wall? Mine came standard in the laundry cupboard, I assumed that's how they did it. Much better in the cupboard cause you can put the dryer above the washing machine and it looks nice and neat. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 284May 02, 2013 5:39 pm Hi guys n girls. Long time lurker, first time poster. We are building with Mainvue. We are doing a knock down rebuild project in the northern sub's of Melbourne. We are building the Ivory 432. Such an amazing home, a design that suits us both and palatial compared to the 11 sq box we currently live in. Tried to sell our home off the block but to no avail. Not much market out there for a 11 square 60's weatherboard. So far, we have had the initial quotation done to secure last year's pricing. We were pretty happy when they offered the Colourbond roof at no cost around Xmas last year. We jumped at that opportunity. We are at second deposit stage this weekend followed by soil tests with view of getting the fixed site costs quoted. Then we are at contract and paperwork acceptance before tender. It's interesting to hear people's thoughts and experiences. I'm interested to hear from other members good and bad during the building process with MV. We are dealing with the sales team at Epping. So far not so bad. You do have to keep them on their toes due to workload otherwise you can go 'missing' in their eyes. Cheers Muds Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 285May 02, 2013 7:04 pm Hi Muds! Nice to see you here, we'll be starting our build in about three months (waiting for the land t title) and will be using the Epping team too. Looking forward to seeing how you go!! - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 286May 02, 2013 9:24 pm The worst part of the build process for me was my electrical appointment with Argus. They have no clue (especially with regard to NBN requirements) and are inflexible. PS. My laundry taps were also tucked in the cupboard which came as standard. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 287May 02, 2013 10:16 pm Can I see a pic of someones taps in the cupboard? Now you've started talking about it I want to see how it looks! - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 288May 03, 2013 7:44 pm Thanks MrsT. We put the second deposit down tomorrow and the fun begins (pack, shift, demolish, tender, electrical and colour appointments etc etc.) We have gone for a few extras over and above standard. Garage plus option, 40mm benches in kitchen, square set cornice to master, living and butlers; opted for the butlers pantry as per displays at Epping and Saltwater Coast. Extra waste and water points to Butlers and Alfresco. Which leads me to the next issue..costings for extended gas lines. Just checked provisional quote..$1125 for extended gas line to Alfresco. This seems extremely over the top even if they upgrade the piping. Unless of course it is gold plated copper piping. For a run of about 20 metres max (if run from the meter and not nearest appliance), I still think this is a bit of a rip off big time. I would expect around $600 and I'm no t..tarse, but I dont like being taken for the fool. Will be clarifying it with the sales consultant tomorrow before handing over any $$. I'll be pushing for a more reasonable fee for that extra, considering our extras are approx $26K. Anyone else in a similar situation with such quote for extending gas point to alfresco. This is a single storey home I think. ) Muds Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 289May 03, 2013 7:46 pm Pronto The worst part of the build process for me was my electrical appointment with Argus. Will keep an eye on that one. I have heard some others have had troubles with Argus. You can't take out or add anything to the package. If you want to change, you have to start from scratch. A LED light will cost you about $200. It's like robbery but you have to agree. You have no other choices. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 291May 03, 2013 9:42 pm Dana Muds Pronto The worst part of the build process for me was my electrical appointment with Argus. Has anyone else extended on a single storey and had to pay this cost? A bit exxy if you ask me. The salesgirl had no idea and said check at tender stage. Ah well, second deposit is down and now waiting on site costings..another bug bear for lots of ppl here I see.. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 293May 05, 2013 10:07 pm MrsT12 Hi Muds! Hope that doesn't stuff your plans up..( Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 294May 05, 2013 10:11 pm In about June/July 2012 we were quoted $900 for the gas line to Alfresco. I thought that was a rip off at the time so I didn't get it. Even our MV consultant thought it was over the top. I moved in 3 months ago and haven't bothered to enquire about the gas line post build (Gas bottle works fine for me). Besides at $900, that's still 60 gas bottles just to 'break-even'. Personally we thought about it as well but its just not worth it. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 296May 06, 2013 9:12 am Well it will come down to the final figures dollars wise. I'm thinking of potential future resale value. Just thougt that $1125 for gas was extreme compared to the $400 for hot n cold water and waste point installed to Alfresco.. I'm waiting to see how much site costs will be. Might need to downsize somewhere..perhaps the garage plus. I can access the rear yard on the opposite side of my block with a nicely constructed vehicle access gate. Choices, choices.. I just went to look at their website and it says the display centre is now closed and nothing is accessible on their site anymore http://sa.mainvuehomes.com.au Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 300May 18, 2013 10:53 pm Weird... Call them or email your sales rep and see what they say. Muds we had a meeting last week and apparently there'll be a new northern office opening soon, they're just trying to finalize where it'll be. They'll be operating from WL till then. Thanks for the heads up though! - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013.
