Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 184Aug 24, 2012 4:31 pm grunter072 Another can of worms question, has anybody used an independent building inspector? Mainvue have told us that they use an "indepentdent" building inspector after each stage, but l just don't buy it, how can they use someone, whom they pay, and call him independent! I'm close to doing a Final Inspection in the next 2 weeks. I would highly recommend getting your own Building Inspector at each of the building stages. You will be suprised at the defects these independent building inspectors find. I am very happy with the Building Inspector that I got and can recommend them to anyone interested. We have organised our own private building inspector through SPI property inspections, we had to send their details to Mainvue to be approved. Siging contracts in 2 weeks, can't wait for this to be started, so sick of renting! Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 186Aug 26, 2012 9:31 pm I mentioned I wanted private building inspection at each stage but was not told that mainvue has to approve them!!! Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 187Sep 07, 2012 1:29 pm Just a little feedback on our contract signing we had on the 5th of September, nothing bad to say about it really, it was actually a fun day well a few hours anyway, we had plenty of post contract variations, XP made it a fun few hours. If there's one thing l like about the sales office at SWC it's that l always feel welcome, compared to other sales offices. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 188Sep 07, 2012 4:07 pm Hi grunter072, Did you request for any additional terms to standard contract? Especially, regarding the private building inspection at each stage aspects. Thanks! (No wonder it's getting quieter and quieter !!) Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 191Sep 12, 2012 4:07 pm Hi Grunter072, Was wondering if you could help me. We are about to sign contracts in a couple of weeks, and was wondering where you sent a copy of your inclusion and extra costs before and if you where how long before signing did you get them. thank you and good luck with your building Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 192Sep 12, 2012 4:31 pm I wish MainVue officially presenting themselves like TeamPD (for Porter Davis) in this forum and answer their customer's enquiries or public comments openly. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 195Sep 23, 2012 2:11 pm Is anyone able to give me feedback on what is included in the various categories? For example our quote has Cat 2A timber flooring but I cannot seem to get any information out of MainVue on what is Cat 2A timber flooring (i.e. is it actual timber, or just laminate flooring that looks like timber? etc) What of brick ranges etc? All we want to do is prepare early for our colour selection meeting... Bricks from what i remember have atleast 5 or 7 categories! All the best. If it is only laminate we'd be better off getting a third party to do the flooring given the price that they have quoted... ~$8.6k Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 198Sep 25, 2012 9:42 am yep its laminate, that's what we were quoted. Huge markup imo. Engineered timber flooring is the quite expensive usually 130/sqm and up(supply only). We are getting it done after handover too. Yeah that is a massive markup I am going to get some quotes on bamboo flooring instead (~$90/sqm installed). Did you get carpet through MainVue? We're looking at a decent sized spend with a flooring company so I am sure we can get reasonable pricing from them. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 200Sep 25, 2012 10:25 am We got Cat3 carpet and best underlay from MV (~6k) to all bedrooms and theatre, i reckon the price to value was ok. In hindsight i should have checked outside as well. I reckon MV uses carpet court for the carpets. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 25421 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE. I have water coming through the bricks… 1 14919 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently. We have signed mid range built contract but identified that a lot of things are not included.… 0 1046 |
