If they have to do extra work (rock removal, upgrade slab, additional piers) the it's at your cost - any other builder would have to charge the same because they can't put a house on unsafe footings. Did you have soil testing some before you bought the block? Or at least before you started going through drawing up plans? That's your responsibility as a home owner, and has itching to do with MV. They're trying to put it in the place that's safest/cheapest and you're asking them to move it so they have to act accordingly, I don't think you can be annoyed with them for that. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. I'm already having my slab upgraded to an E type. Geez, imagine if the easement was in my boundary, I'd have the house centered on the block or be paying $40k site costs to move it over one way. I agree that they would not put the house on unsafe footings and I'm not asking them to do so. We did not have the soil tested before we bough the block as we purchased it pre release so there was no time to wait for soil tests. I have not heard of anyone who has turned down a block due to the soil test results. I don't believe you buy and build based on soil test results. You buy and build based on the location of the block. The plans are not yet drawn up so yes, we did have soil tests done before drawing up the plans. I'm no so annoyed at this issue, bit more so annoyed that its been over 3 weeks since I have heard back from them and they know I am awaiting answers to some questions I had. Re: Anyone building with MainVue Homes 600Jun 21, 2014 6:32 pm Also annoyed that they told us they will make the gas log heater space a standard size (W8) so we can just buy one later to install as they do not supply the heater. We went to the heater store today to ask about the sizes and there is no such thing as a standard size. So if we had if taken his word we would be customising the cavity to suit a heater which is not the proper way its done. Annoyed that I was told the fuse box cannot be put in the garage but saw an amalfi being build with one the other day. Annoyed that I was told the mashing machine taps cannot be placed inside the cupboard as it's against standards but have also seen this currently in progress. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24806 wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13820 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently.
