Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 09, 2011 9:29 am Hello all, We are at frame stage. My builder has arranged for the aluminium sliding doors and windows to be delivered earlier than required and these have been there in open for last two weeks. I am concerned that the rain will cause these to rust or the wooden frame in the winows to disintegrate. I am planning to take photos and send it to the builder, is there anything else I could or should do. Reveals (the timber part) should be OK for a couple more weeks (even if it is MDF, should be MR grade = moisture resistant). Send a note in any case, just in case. If they do not look right, raise it. Mine sat outside for 6 days (in the rain) and they appear ok. Re: Sliding doors and windows kept onsite in open 5Oct 09, 2011 9:53 pm winner Thanks Ed. My inspector said what Ed said, that the reveals are the part which is most at risk. His recommendation was to take photos of everything and file them, in case there are problems later. Some of ours did get damaged, either before or during installation, and they were replaced by the builder. Regarding the weather, doors and windows are already designed to be exposed to the weather for their entire working life, so it's not a big deal to them. It just hurts to see that something that is so dear to you and for which your are paying dearly is being ill-managed. But i guess this is the nature of this industry.
