Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 06, 2011 5:24 pm Ok well thought i would start a new topic, the wife and i were planning on building the Marcoola 301 but after a trip to QLD to look through one on display at Jimboomba we decided it wasnt what we were after. So we thought we would go and have a look at the new Coral display homes in Chisolm which is only about 20 minutes from where we live and fell in love with the Noosa 279..
Several months later and we are out of council, all the bank crap sorted , colour selections done, and the retaining wall meeting was today, not real impressed they want a 300 high retaining wall but anyways it will be done. Just waiting on a couple of variation prices from Coral and things should start rolling in a few weeks time finers crossed.. We didnt make a lot of changes to the plan, just moved a wall here and there.. Re: Building with Coral - Noosa 279 5Oct 10, 2011 8:50 am Good to see a Noosa thread! We're looking into building a modified Noosa at the moment. What Noosa facades are you building or prefer? The Hastings Portico facade on the Chisholm display home is pretty good. I also like the Bramston facade, but I'd want to flip the front window to the right hand side (outside) corner of the study... and ditch that half brick wall. Also, what brick style are you all looking at? We're keen on the PGH Modern Living range, which is a upgrade (Class D) with Coral. I'll going to give the standard range another look at, I'd prefer to find something that isn't an upgrade. Still waiting on some variations from colours, been REALLY slow there and the final paperwork (stamped council plans etc) to give to the bank!! Retaining wall being done in the morning.. Yeah we got the coffered ceiling in the media room, $617 so wasnt too bad. We dropped the square set in the kitchen it was only $517, wished we kept it but we had to drop a few "extras" as the list kept growing and growing so it was one!! Re: Building with Coral - Noosa 279 7Oct 10, 2011 1:15 pm kiwi check out that ensuite!!!! whoaoao! congrats on your build. Thanks kiwi.. Ensuite should look great, cant wait to see how it turns out.. We upgraded to 2550 ceiling height and went floor to ceiling tiling in the ensuite. Mixutre of dark grey and light grey tiles. Was really stressing at colours as me and the wife had no real idea on what way we were going so fingers crossed it does come to together and look great.. Re: Building with Coral - Noosa 279 8Oct 10, 2011 1:26 pm thattime Good to see a Noosa thread! We're looking into building a modified Noosa at the moment. We went with the Eclipse package so it's an eclipse facade and we added a raised portico over the entry to match facade. I think the eclipse facade is just the basic style facade nothing too much added there. As for the window we went with 3 double hung windows like on the Chisolm display. We went sand dune not sure what range they were in but are a standard brick. We went past a house that had them and quite like them, plus i think we will paint the house so an upgrade was not really a real good option. We found a brick we loved on another Coral home but i think it was something like a $4,000 upgrade, they looked great but $$$ were all gone by then haha.. Building with Coral - Noosa 279 9Oct 10, 2011 2:42 pm We upgraded to the 2550 ceilings as well, amazed at the difference it made. As we closed the opening between lounge and dining/family I was worried it would feel closed in, but I think the higher ceilings did the trick. Picking colours is so hard, but it is great watching them all appear during the build. Floor to ceiling in the ensuite will be gorgeous! Did you leave your ensuite open? We added a slider as sometimes the bathroom is the only place I can escape from the kids but I didn't think about the direction it opened, I should have had it slide into the wall on the toilet side so I can have towel rails opposite the shower. Oh well the things you learn after. ------------ Sent from my mobile device ... please excuse the typing missed cakes. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Building with Coral - Noosa 279 10Oct 10, 2011 3:14 pm We didnt close the bathroom off.. We werent sure what to do at all with that so we just left it and thought we would see how it goes and make changes if need be.. Brother in law and mate are builders so they may get called in to make some changes haha.. I think the 2550 ceilings will be good, only thing i was worried about was they only gave us plain doors to choose from in the bigger range so we also got priced in standard size doors with a pattern in them, one of the variations we are waiting on. Building with Coral - Noosa 279 11Oct 10, 2011 3:29 pm We went with standard sized doors ... they don't look out of place. If we'd gone 2700 high maybe it would have been different. I need a builder rellie up here ... lol ------------ Sent from my mobile device ... please excuse the typing missed cakes. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Building with Coral - Noosa 279 13Oct 10, 2011 5:47 pm Muppardo Glad to hear the normal size looks good.. You have gotten rid of one worry i had haha Lol glad to help ... I think the standard feature panel doors look better than the higher Eclipse package flush panel doors. The Chisholm (NSW) display house has the lower doors, they look good. From the price list I have going from the Eclipse 2340 doors back to the standard 2040 doors is a -$180 change - i.e. in your favour. I think that includes both the room doors and the robe doors. In the case of robe doors you may want to consider the space in the top of the robes, from the top of the 2040 doors to the 2550 ceiling. I've lived in houses where the top shelf was too close to the top of the doors which made it hard/impossible to use the space above them. Building with Coral - Noosa 279 16Oct 10, 2011 7:05 pm Muppardo Just make sure you give me some ideas for that theatre room ESB The chippie was telling me about another build they finished before mine, the media room was fully insulated, sound proofing gyprock, solid doors and it was on it's own circuit :O --------------------- Sent from my mobile device so please excuse my typing missed cakes. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Building with Coral - Noosa 279 17Oct 11, 2011 8:52 am thattime I agree with the door height "down grade". Speak to your Area Manager, see if he/she is holding up the start date. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Building with Coral - Noosa 279 20Oct 20, 2011 6:25 pm Ive rang the lady in QLD handling it about 5 times.. First time was "we just got the variation sheet in the mail" then the next 4 times its "we are just waiting on on a couple of things and they should be here in the next few days' not good at all.. Just holding things up now!! Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
