Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 05, 2011 8:56 am We are looking for advice on how to start renovating our house. We want to extend our bedroom into the carport and relocate our ensuite and a walk in robe into this place. Also want to knock a wall out between bedrooms to make larger. Also want to renovate the kitchen/dining area. We do not have any existing plans for the house. We have checked with the shire and they do not have them either. They gave us our neighbours plans when we built a patio. Do we need them or will the reno plans be sufficient? As there will be some structural changes do i need to worry about roof support plans being drawn up. Is it best to get a architect involved or use a draftie to develop plans? What costs would we be looking at for either service. Re: Renovating in Darling Downs 2Oct 05, 2011 8:59 am Architects are expensive and have egos, draftie's are cheaper and basically will draw what you want them to draw. There are exceptions to the rule of course. You can always draw up your own plans, it's not that hard. What you are looking at is fibrous plaster, true gypsum, it is cast on horizontal beds with fibers included to give strength. I has no Asbestos in it. Houses before 1985… 2 7142 |
