Browse Forums Building A New House Re: About to do it all again...this time with a slope ! 21Oct 04, 2011 11:26 pm I will be building it myself. It helps that i work as a commercial builder. I don't build houses in my daily job, but they aren't overly difficult. I've built our last two homes, so my wife is getting used to it Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: About to do it all again...this time with a slope ! 22Oct 14, 2011 9:43 am Revised the lower floor plan. Took up space under what is called the "deck/pergola" behind the kitchen. It will either be a balcony still, or maybe a roof over downstairs. This allows me to alter downstairs for another living area, and turin it into a real entertainment area which will be used often, and if the budget allows me to place an underwater window into the pool Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Blog is now up - http://www.jbdave.blogspot.com/ Re: About to do it all again...this time with a slope ! 23Oct 14, 2011 11:14 am Are we allowed to have HWS enclosed these days? They all seem to be external - easier maintenance? Have you seen a window looking into a pool that has inspired you? wouldn't you be looking at lots of legs............. Maybe switch the lounge and pool table in that case? It would take noise of pool table chat away from theatre, too. Re: About to do it all again...this time with a slope. New p 24Nov 07, 2011 12:58 pm I've been tinkering with the plans the past few days, and have come up with an alternative which we like better, and I think works a little better. The house is a tad larger, but won't cost me a lot more to build. I have around 10-10.5 metres from the back of the house to the back fence. The overall width of the block is 22 metres, with the part at the very back around 10 metres, so it provides a decent (albeit not overly large) back yard for the kids. This time I changed the house to a more "streamlined" plan. I liked the u shape house, but it may have cut off the northerly sun, and the pool area may have felt a little "enclosed" and tight. The backyard was also on the lower level. I finalised the dwgs (well as much as they are for now anyway ) and sent them off to the draftsperson to draw up. This is the end result (so far). The pool is still in a prominent position within the house, and the kids can play in the yard on the same level as the living areas.
