Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Recommended inspectors for handover - Melb SE suburbs 2Oct 03, 2011 8:28 am Hi, I used Kevin from new home inspections and will be using them again with this build. I also know of others who have used him and been very happy. Good luck with finding someone and I hope whoever you select does not find anything major. Very happy with his service so far. Building the Milano30 Site start: 30th June 2011 PCI: 1st December 2011 Handover: As soon as the bank pays! Unfortunately he could not make it this week so he recommended another Melbourne inspector for properties (a different company) that was covering for him. At short notice this guy agreed, for which we were grateful. The inspector was 1 hour late to the inspection (it was at the start of the day so it was due to traffic not a previous client) and he failed to mention that he would not release the report without prior payment. So instead of getting the report Wednesday night and getting it to the builder on Thursday morning, we might get it Friday night (because he can't possibly send it during the day) and get it to the builder on Monday. Most likely, there goes handover next week that the builder hoped to give us. I'm getting much better service from the builder - that's something you don't often hear on this forum. Chatz Re: Recommended inspectors for handover - Melb SE suburbs 5Oct 14, 2011 2:09 pm That's no good Chatz especially as it's Handover time ... although regarding payment prior to the report being issued, from what I had researched this seemed to be standard procedure. Still it would have been good if this person had told you so. I hope your handover isn't delayed too much and there aren't many (if any) issues that need to be fixed in your report. They have been great so far and they seem as keen as we are to get to handover. Chatz Re: Recommended inspectors for handover - Melb SE suburbs 7Oct 14, 2011 9:51 pm Morox, I accept that upfront payment is the norm, just wish they could have told me. We finally got the report tonight and there is very little wrong with the house. It should not take Henley long to get those fixed. Thanks, Chatz Re: Recommended inspectors for handover - Melb SE suburbs 8Oct 15, 2011 1:45 pm Yeah I understand that, I'd be miffed too if it were me not being told.
