Way too many additions...... Errrmmm...we got EXTERNAL wall insulation and not internal wall insulation. We asked good ol' Kevin when we were doing pre-plaster inspection if he thinks we needed internal wall insulation. He said no so we didn't bother putting it in. The only internal walls of the house we have insulation in is the rumpus (Home Theatre) room. We have fitted sound proofing insulation for when I crank it up
The Contract app't was eventful to say the least. Originally we had asked for the entire facade to be renerdered and they priced it at $3,840. Later we downgraded to just the balcony and when we had our Tender Appt they told us it was only $666 for the balcony. We thought Fantastic!! A couple of days later my wife rang the PD man and told him to alter the Tender to include the balcony for that price. When we went through the contract yesterday the price came in at @$3,500 !! for the Balcony. Apparently he priced the wrong item for $666 amount. I went 'Ballistic'. He was then called in to explain the error. After I expressed my concerns, I ended up asking to speak to the manager as this was now the second time they had screwed up with costings and expected us to wear it. He went off spoke to a manger and (as they were all in a meeting) came back with an offer to halve the difference and make the cost @ $1400 for the balcony and admit fault. To say the least we were visibly outraged and upset by the whole experience. The session went from 2pm to 5.20. By the end of it we were a little more comfortable, and the actual CSC 'Holly' was really nice which helped. I'm glad that is now over. The only internal walls of the house we have insulation in is the rumpus (Home Theatre) room. We have fitted sound proofing insulation for when I crank it up Interesting. I never actually thought about the external wall insulation and just assumed it was part of the overall price so I never had to ask for it. However, another fellow forum member who built a Lifestyle home with PD asked if we got the insulation as extra. I said no, of course. I built a prestige range one so maybe it's just another thing they do different between the two ranges? Or maybe because we got a house and land package so they just included everything? But, I could be wrong?! [sneakersss] Re: Options List... 28Feb 06, 2008 8:38 am YSSIM teml Hi YSSIM, Yes the 'external' walls of the House I was meaning. In any case I find it weird if external wall insulation isn't included as standard. Never worked for me like that a school - Well Steve you did excellent in Maths and English, - how about we use some of those extra stars to help you pass your Art practical exam with flying colours too Yeah right !!!! I digress. Re insulation in walls. I'd be mandating it - I had some wiring done last week and it proved what I thought all of my upstairs walls have good insulation in them - - as does all my rooves, which I notice works very well in both summer and winter. Extranal wall Insulation It should not be optional. Otherwise I would have got an A in Art as well - and not just a pass Steve Standard uninsulated double brick has an R value of around 0.7. An insulated standard 90mm stud timber frame can have an R value of around 2.7.
