Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 27, 2011 9:08 pm Hi everyone, This is my first post. My husband and I are demolishing an old family owned river shack and attempting to build a new holiday home on the River Murray in South Australia. The House Plans (development application) have only just gone to council last week after we employed a developer to handle this side of things while we dealt with architect and chose a builder. So far we have been billed close on $2000 for emails and council laison over 6 months by the developer. I was told we coudn't do this (submit council development application ) without a licenced builder to write the various Statement of Supports etc. Can anyone advise is this is a reasonable figure as we were quoted a lot less (verbally of course)...our first mistake along this trail Cheers J & G Re: Getting plans thru Council 2Sep 28, 2011 2:44 pm Arrrggh...figured ONE aspect of this dilemma out myself.... Developer was quoting on compliant development application not NON compliant and our stairway pokes too far out towards the river. ...which leads to enormous 'developer/council liaison' cost blowout! Let the GAMES BEGIN....lol... Re: Getting plans thru Council 3Sep 30, 2011 3:46 pm Cost me $10k in development consultant fees, arborist fees and surveys. Took 6 months to get the planning permit through, as opposed to the 2 years that seems to be the norm for that council.
