Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 26, 2011 11:38 pm Hi all, Basically thought it's time to put a thread up and give back after I learnt lots from this site. Started off early last year my old man doing a sub division keeping the exisiting house he has and resulting in a block of 8m frontage x 55m depth. Bit of back and forward with the council as they weren't happy with the tree at the front of the exisiting house however, Sawley and Lockleys were a great surveyor. Pretty much paid them and they took care of everything. Then the next step was conveyance which wasn't a pleasant experience. Late last year was going to most display homes and trying to find a reputable builder. Only really had one condition that the house would be built with steel frames as the existing house had termite issues which were a pain to deal with. Went to all the big ones and they all were all not too far off in price around the 10% from each other. However, biggest thing I found from this site was some loved them while some were having huge issues. And I wasn't a fan of being told to sign on the spot and put a deposit while the lands title hadn't even been transferred. Did some research on here and found Adelaide Designer Homes (ADH) and they listened to what I wanted and there was no pressure to sign on the spot. Basically signed the contract March this year and still had a bit of paper work and stuff to chase down but around 20th August they did the site prep. Will try and upload a picture of the plans but imageshack won't allow pdfs to be upload. Basically a narrow narrow house but took advantage of the depth. 3 bedrooms, 1 study, 2 ensuites, 1 bathroom and the usual open plan kitchen/lounge and an bit of an outdoor living area under main roof. Still have a tad over 10m the backfence. So far ADH have been great. Only 1 hicup at the moment and they have listened and are attending to it. Hoping it stays as a pleasurable experience. The rear is still quiet decent with around 8x10m of actual backyard. Dreamcometrue-feel free to pm if you have any questions. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Plans as requested.
