I can't wait for landscaping. Sand gets everywhere. And on our floors, its invisible until you happen to step on it. I hate crunchy sand underfoot! turtleschell Sexy 32! Thankyou turtleschell, it is a bit of a raunchy number, isn't it? enelya Woohoo for letterbox!!! And the wall looks great!! Is there a long wait on landscaping? Thanks Jen! Now I can get mail! And hopefully next week for the gardens - the guy is coming by tomorrow to check up and confirm everything, and then should be a go next week! I still have to finish backfilling the retaining walls with sand, Dave ran out of time yesterday so it's all me now. The JJs You guys are just going gangbusters with turning your house into a wonderful home....great work Ally and Dave, it's looking fantastic. Keen to see photos of your wall out the back! Awwh thank you JJ's, I'm glad someone thinks it looks good! I'm a bit biased I feel very lucky to have this beautiful house and even though it's REALLY hard work getting things done, I am loving the results! chuffy I can only hope we have half as much energy as you two!!!!! Looks fantastic. You must be stoked and so excited to get landscaping started. I am astronomically excited to get landscaping done so happy the walls are finally done, they were weighing on my mind as a running-out-of-time-to-do-them kind of thing. And you can have all the energy I have left but I warn you, it's barely anything at this stage! caz_770 Yay!!!! You finally have your retaining walls I love your front retaining wall. So pretty I love most things made of limestone I agree totally, limestone walls are booooootiful. Hence why we chose the limestone coloured bricks for the house, it goes with everything! I have a distant plan for rendering the front retaining wall in colourbond Jasper to match the roof, but that's only a distant glimmer atm. So...as JJ's requested, some pics of the back retaining wall. I warn you - it's a d0dgy DIY job, so the wall isn't perfectly straight or perfectly done, but it's ours and it's done so I'm happy! Instead of pouring the footing, we flattened the ground and I laid the leftover house bricks as the footing. It took a while... the yard is 17m across and I had to check the level on every brick, but it got done! Sunburnt Ally --> Then we cemented and put them all into place. Took AGES - these blocks are heavy as! He confirmed that he will do the job Thurs/Fri of next week (25th/26th Oct). He is lovely - I showed him the front of the house where the sand still needs to be pushed forward and levelled.... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ....and he said his team would do it for a carton of beer. Then we went out the back and he noted that he is going to have to bring sand in to build up the level of the backyard as well. Rather than me do 3-4 loads of sand + leveling myself (which I'd never have time to do), he will do it for a small labour cost and I'll pay for the sand. So basically, this saves me from doing any more outside work for less than $200 and it will all be done by end of next week. I am so excited! However...I fly out to Netfest on the Gold Coast next Wednesday night and won't be back until Sunday night! So I will have a yard of sand when I leave, and beautiful grass/gardens when I come back. Re: Building the Sorrento by Scott Park Homes 1295Oct 18, 2012 10:13 am Woooohooooo!!! How exciting! :cheerleader: You guys did such a great job on that back wall to  Re: Building the Sorrento by Scott Park Homes 1296Oct 18, 2012 10:14 am Hmmmm how do I do emoticons on mobile?? Re: Building the Sorrento by Scott Park Homes 1297Oct 18, 2012 11:00 am Double the : And thank you, I am proud of our wonky imperfect wall at least I can look at it and know we did it all ourselves! Re: Building the Sorrento by Scott Park Homes 1298Oct 18, 2012 11:30 am Wow the walls look great. We are extremely lucky and our new block has limestone wall and planter box already for us at the back. We want to do planter boxes or retaining wall at the front also. Could you PM me details of who did yours? Also rough cost if not too personal? Cant wait to see all landscape done. You certainly get sick of seeing sand ALL the time. We built last year and have finished all our gardens.. cant believe we're gonna have do it all over again. But its rewarding once its finished Re: Building the Sorrento by Scott Park Homes 1299Oct 18, 2012 1:06 pm Thank you Leanne! How lucky yours are already done I have sent you a PM! Can't wait for grass. No more sand = Re: Building the Sorrento by Scott Park Homes 1300Oct 20, 2012 10:56 pm Ask for references and speak to them.
