Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 21, 2011 5:59 pm This is my first time on this site and thought I would start writing down our building progress and sharing some photos. We are building with Dreamstart Homes and have had the most amazing experience with them. Our slab went down on the 27th of May 2011 and we recently went to lock up two weeks ago. Our house is going up so so so fast but the workmanship is a really high standard and we are very happy with everything so far. Touch wood nothing bad happens to stop the fast progress between now and hand over. The main issue we have come accross was being told by our builder that our water meter was stolen...THREE TIMES!!!! My partner is doing the electrical work at our house, and has been going to the block almost everyday since the slab went down, and he swears black and blue there never was one there. Our builder said it had nothing to do with them as it was in our contract that we were liable to pay for the replacements of any stolen meters They charged us $240 for each stolen meter eeeeek!!!!! I wrote a furious email to Water Corp demanding proof of installation and a week later and received a phone call from them appologising and said after investigating the situation they have found we were right. There was never a meter there and were sending a cheque back to our builder!!!!! ...Follow my building progress... https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51290&p=783846#p783846 Re: Building in Redgum Brook Estate in Byford.... 2Sep 21, 2011 6:17 pm Our view Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Slab down on 27 May 2011 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Roof on 13 July 2011 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Render started and ceilings in 8 August 2011 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Front door and view Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our big alfresco Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ...Follow my building progress... https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51290&p=783846#p783846 Re: Building in Redgum Brook Estate in Byford.... 3Sep 21, 2011 7:08 pm We have been told not long now until hand over yayyyyyy Our builder told us the end of Nov but at the rate it is going up I think 4-6 weeks easy!!!! Our bathrooms have been tiled now. All the cabinets and bench tops are in. All the gutters have been painted and this week the plumber is finishing everything off and my Partner is fitting off all the electrical side of things. One problem. We have a purple house At pre start we picked Solver Mourne Grey and we werent told it would look like another colour once on the render. But now it's a very obvious shade of purple and not a grey at all. Don't know what to do now as we chose grey to match our dark tiles, front doors and garage door. I really really don't want a purple house. Do we have a leg to stand on though once we have signed off on the colours we chose? We chose grey and didnt get grey. Surely they should have warned us the colour would NOT look grey!!! Here are a few I made, Very easy and cheap to make. Better than paying big bucks for something not as nice i think!!!!! The photos I took while we went to Europe this year. Has anyone got any advice regarding our "purple" render? Is anyone else building in Byford or with Dreamstart Homes?? We would highly recommend Dreamstart Homes so feel free to ask me any questions regarding building with them. My partner is doing all the electical work and he finished fitting off everything inside on Sunday. The oven is now in and ready to use Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our garage door was installed on Friday. I think it helps make the render not look as purple, what do you think???? I can see your photos, but they are quite small. Have a go with the tinypic website and hopefully we can get a better view and give you advise on the render colour. It doesn't look purple from these little pictures at all. I love it though, and what an amazing view!!!! Bet you can't wait to get cooking in that awesome kitchen!! What size block did you build on? The house looks huge! Have you got a floor plan to upload? Byford is amazing... Also an expansion joint. It will probably be better to silicon it? What I don't like is that joints between panels are not properly rendered and look ugly. 1 24692 I’m curious about how you went with this.
