Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Cabinetry 141Apr 17, 2012 6:10 pm Bron i hope everything works out with the neighbours/gutters. We went to Bali over Easter and all painting had been done, lights/fans, tiling, so much had been done that i wouldnt mind going away agian. Still a lot to be done but its amazing what they can do in a month. Thanks for the tip of the photos, i will go onto that site. Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Cabinetry 144Apr 18, 2012 10:02 am Looking good Kranzy! You have a nice spacious kitchen, and I really like the colour of your ensuite benchtop. I wish we had semi inset basins, too, but couldn't justify spending more to upgrade something like that. Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Cabinetry 145Apr 18, 2012 12:43 pm Thanks Bron. I went very simple colours with the bathroom (browns). Funny I had another colour but had to change last minute. the colour I had chosen was the same as the public toliet doors in our local shopping centre so I had to ring Carlisle and change!! We were lucky that our semi inset were at no extra cost, came with the house as we got "as displayed" sale. Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Cabinetry 146Apr 18, 2012 9:46 pm Hi Bronj, your house is looking brilliant, we have the same front door as you. Have you heard how much longer is will take to PCI? Love your stairs, wish I had timber stairs on my bottom two steps instead of carpet. hubby, kids and me all waiting for the Amberlea Site Cut 27 September 2011 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46637 http://www.dscml.com/ Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Cabinetry 147Apr 23, 2012 7:36 am Phew! Gutter issue sorted out. We went over on the weekend and found the boundary pegs. We ran a string line down the boundary and we're just 5 cms inside. Our neighbor helped us run the string line, and he's happy, which is a big relief. Apart from that we couldn't get into the house because even though the doors were open, they were covered with some papery stuff as the painting has started! Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Cabinetry 148Apr 30, 2012 7:39 am It looks like we're back to full steam ahead. We got in on Wednesday, and the painting was about half done. I'm happy with the colours - the open plan area looked nice and bright. When we went back on the weekend to hopefully see some more progress, someone was working - both days! So we didn't manage to get any pics, but we did see some packages that looks like our tiles delivered, which was exciting . I promise i'll get some pictures next time... I've only seen it once in pretty dim light (as you can see from the photo), but so far very happy. Not so sure about the cream colour being used around the bottom of the balcony, but I don't think we were actually asked about that colour. Not really fussed about it, but I think I'd prefer the blue/monument colour. We've had one message saying tiling would start this week, and another saying that waterproofing was finished yesterday. Does anyone know if there is a period that the waterproofing needs to be left before tiling? I seem to recall reading that somewhere, but I can't find it now. Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Painting 152May 04, 2012 8:49 am Hi Bron, Its looking great now, not long to go, I watching The Block last night on TV and they leaving waterproofing for overnight then tiling. Ours was left for about 2 weeks. I now have the carpet and flooring in and on Wednesday the temp fence has been pulled down. We have blue stickers everywhere on walls, skirts etc (must be where touch ups have to be done) so I am getting close now. I cannot believe our slab was poured in Jan and we are almost there, for the first time I am getting excited!! And the mortar issue - they are getting onto it so all good. Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Painting 153May 05, 2012 2:23 pm Sounds great Kranzy! I'm starting to get pretty excited myself I managed to get into the house today to see what I could see, and guess what?!? Tiling is done!!!! The bathroom was the one part of the house that I had a clear picture of when choosing the colour scheme, and I'm really excited to finally see it in my house! They've also started cutting holes for powerpoints and light switches, so I suspect that will be done next week. Does anyone know how many days work electrical and plumbing fit offs take? Once that's done, there's really very little left to do. And finally, the garage door was down, so I could see the front of it in all it's classic creamy goodness. As you may be able to tell, I'm feeling quite bubbly about the build today. I don't think I realised how much the slow progress had been depressing me in the last few weeks. But now I'm starting to see things come together and look (almost) complete, and everything's just a bit more real... Maybe we can finally get some sort of timeframe out of our SS. I think he might be allergic to commitment, by the way he sidesteps our questions all the time. Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Tiling pics 154May 05, 2012 2:29 pm Tiling pics! The stone effect just set it off - well done, Perfect lines - great tiler!! Love the large niche in shower- i wish mine was that length. Our plumbing, electrical only took a day so ur not that far now. I must say our SS has been ringing us all the time so i would ask for a date. Im starting to count down for the 15th may!! Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Tiling pics 157May 07, 2012 3:42 pm Yeah, I love the stones on the floor. I saw it done in a picture in the builders tile gallery website, and loved the way it broke up the dark floor tiles and gave an edge to the bath. Of course they charged us extra for putting feature tiling in a 'non-standard feature location'. Can't wait to spend a relaxing hour in my new spa bath with a nice bottle of bubbles. Actually it's a pretty good website for tiling inspiration, for anyone currently at the design stage. The silly thing is that they don't tell you about these tools - I just found it by accident at the time. http://simondstilegallery.com.au/detail.php?house=39&house_description=Mossman&page=8 Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Tiling pics 158May 07, 2012 3:48 pm Loving your creamy exterior and the main bathroom looks gorgeous ... the dark tiles set off the bath beautifully and the little pebble touches are lovely ... well done For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Tiling pics 159May 12, 2012 10:42 pm More progress this week - plumbing fit offs are done, with all the sinks, toilets and tap ware installed. Electrical is also almost done, except they've put 3 down lights in over the kitchen bench where the battens should be, and there's empty holes where the extra row of down lights should be. Hopefully that won't be hard to fix up. We intend to find some DIY pendants to go over the bench, and I'm now thinking of a feature pendant in the entry after seeing some lovely shades on this site. Re: Bron's Building Bonanza (melbourne) - Tiling pics 160May 13, 2012 9:31 am Yay Bron, what great progress you have had, you must be thrilled. I'm sure changing the lights won't be a problem, maybe you could buy the pendants now and ask them to install, otherwise they will have to patch up holes etc I do enjoy the drama:-D In his latest two videos he has started bringing security guards to site, I am waiting for the punch on to begin lol 6 45549 custom probably not.
