Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 15, 2011 11:22 am Our kitchen was installed yesterday, tiles have been delivered, walls are all up but still some cornice to go. Timeline to date is site start 4/05/11 Slab 20/05/11 Frame 30/05/11 Bricks 27/07/11 Bit slow but we've had some hold ups with weather and bricks out of stock. Just wondering how long it normally takes from this point untill handover? Re: How long untill handover? 2Sep 15, 2011 11:31 am Hey Selina, I think it really depends on the builder and the size of the house....so it's easier to just compare with builds from the same builder.(that's what I did ) Although if I compare ours, our lockup stage completed on the 1st Aug 2011 and our PCI date is the 29th Sep 2011 which probably means the handover would be about 15-21 days after PCI. Hope this helps! good luck Aj How long untill handover? 3Sep 15, 2011 7:11 pm Thanks for that Aj! It's 300m2 with AVJ. Really want to be settled by Christmas, fingers crossed! Re: How long untill handover? 4Sep 15, 2011 8:27 pm Hi there! We are building a 32 sq double storey, and we had the kitchen installed the first week of July, and we are moving in next week (end of September), so 11 - 12 weeks. We lost 2 - 3 weeks where the house stood idle because of various reasons, so if you don't have any delays then maybe you could be moving in after 9 weeks or so. Hope it's soon Re: How long untill handover? 5Sep 15, 2011 9:13 pm We're building with Coral and our SS said on average he manages handover approx 7 weeks after the plasterer has finished. I'll let you know in a few weeks if this is true in our case. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: How long untill handover? 6Sep 16, 2011 11:41 am Hi Selina, I'm pretty sure you should be in by Christmas..... I don't think it'll take more than 2 months for any builder to complete the rest of the work once the kitchen and tiles are done...... keep us updated on your progress....!!!
