Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 11, 2011 6:22 pm Hi Is anyone familiar with the build process, and know how the power is usually led to an island bench? Our build is progressing well, slab down and bricks almost done. We haven't been able to spot a conduit or piping for power to the island bench. The island requires power for two power points (including the microwave nook). The plan shows the run-in pipes leading from nearby internal wall (where the kitchen cupboards sit). All the piping (eg where sinks are) have a pipe sticking up through the concrete slab - should there be something like this where the power would run to the bench? Or is the power usually done later (ie by cutting a trench into the slab at a later point) Any advice or personal experience appreciated Thanks Re: How does the power connect to an island bench? 2Sep 11, 2011 6:31 pm Hi There We had conduit run through the slab for the power to our island - we could see it sticking out once the slab was poured. Friends of ours had organised this also but the builder forgot to run the conduit before the slab was poured - so they had to jack hammer out a trench from the nearest power outlet and run the conduit and then re-concrete over the top. I would get onto this ASAP as our friends even had tiles laid so they had to rip the tiles up too! Re: How does the power connect to an island bench? 7Sep 11, 2011 9:10 pm I assume this is a slab on ground. In my case for the suspended slab they put in a 100 mm pipe penetration. This was then shared with a 40 mm sink drain (and dishwasher) drain and an electrical conduit. Usually if you are making an exposed frame you would use solid legs around 100x100 or… 3 6580 Would also like an opinion from anyone that has used xcem over hebel for floors. Thanks 1 13277 2 15459 |
