Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 03, 2011 1:30 pm So, we are almost ready to do selections for our build I have been fairly certain on external colours from the get go, as far as colorbond goes, and just had to select a brick. We decided to go with Loft for the roof & guttering, and Evening Haze for the fascia & garage door. We wanted a greyish brick and tossed up between PGH Cement or Sorbetto. After a lot of thought, and stalking on H1 we decided on Sorbetto. Over the last few days doubt has been sneaking in I really want to get this right! So my question is, will the Evening Haze have too much of a creamy colour next to the very grey bricks?? I want a contrast, but don't really want to make a feature of the door IYKWIM Roof and gutter LOFT Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Fascia and garage EVENING HAZE Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bricks SORBETTO Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The Evening Haze looks like a good match, but on a real sample it looks to have a bit more yellow in it?? Opinions and pics greatly appreciated Re: Evening Haze with PGH Sorbetto bricks?? 2Sep 03, 2011 1:53 pm Hi, Great colours, however I think you are mixing brown with grey. I would personally go with Cement bricks as they have creamier tone to them and are colour through and not coated like Sorbetto. If Sorbetto bricks chip, red brick underneath will be exposed. I think that Woodland Grey and Surfmist go better with Sorbetto. taki Re: Evening Haze with PGH Sorbetto bricks?? 3Sep 04, 2011 10:43 am Hi, I completely agree with taki, I wouldnt mix brown (loft) with grey (sorbetto). I'd be much more inclined to choose Woodland Grey over Loft. And then either Surfmist, Woodland Grey or Dune windows. Just my opinion. We were tossing up between Sorbetto and Cement bricks, and chose Cement. We are having Barramundi roof tiles, Dune garage door, fascia and downpipes, and Woodland Grey Gutters and windows. The PGH website has a colour scheme section which might help you, it helped us http://www.pghclay.com.au/AllAboutColour/Default.aspx Good luck! I was feeling that something wasn't working, this feedback has confirmed that I either need to change my bricks or roof colour. Taki, my only hesitation with the Sorbetto brick is exactly as you mentioned- being a slurry brick they are prone to chipping and showing the underlying colour. The salesperson at PGH gave me a sample and showed me that the newer batches are better colour match, being less noticeable when they chip. The body of the brick is very close to Cement. Maybe I should just play it safe and go for the cement. It was my first instinct after all. We were leaning away from woodland grey, just because it is so popular and want something a bit different. On the other hand, colours become popular because they work! Novo, your selections sound great! I have had a look on the PGH website a few times and have got some great ideas from there. Have also had a play around with envisage on the Studiom site, although they only have Boral & Selkirk bricks. Thankyou both for your input, I think I need to get all my samples together and make a few sacrifices Re: Evening Haze with PGH Sorbetto bricks?? 5Sep 04, 2011 7:11 pm Re: Evening Haze with PGH Sorbetto bricks?? 6Sep 04, 2011 7:46 pm Mmm, those bricks look brown to me. I might have to go with the cement brick, which is a browny grey.
