Browse Forums Building A New House Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 2Sep 02, 2011 4:57 pm Hi Aloha, We're building with HBC (the Ultimate Ruby with a few changes) in Banksia Grove - and have just reached lock up! We've been really happy with how everything has gone so far, and can't wait to start living up there. Cate Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 3Sep 02, 2011 5:43 pm Hi Cate, That's awesome, how exciting to have reached lock up! So what month are you expecting to move in by? We have just received our Building Licence/Pre Construction approval so only the start for us. How long has it been for you guys since you received building approval? We are building on Salwood loop up the back of Banksia Grove, how about yourselves? We were starting to think we were building a swimming pool after that, not a house, because every time we went up there the place was full of water. Quickest part of it I think was the brickwork, but then we had to wait a few weeks for the roof. I'm expecting handover early-mid November, but hoping for it anytime after mid-October. We are on Joseph Banks Blvd. Cate Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 5Sep 02, 2011 6:08 pm Wow it dosn't take long.. I thought it would have taken a lot longer to reach lock up, how exciting!! Yeah you must have coped a lot of rain, have you got photos of the progress of the house? October/November would be lovely, just in time for Christmas and New Years!! Sorry for all the questions but just excited for you and how everything is going lol! have you had a good run with the Homebuyers? By the time we move in it will be a little over 12 months since we signed up - we started talking to HBC in October last year, and after waiting for titles settled in April. Everything has gone smoothly for us (so far at least, touch wood). The only thing that could have been better is their fortnightly updates - generally, after visiting every weekend, we already knew everything in the update anyway (though it was a bit amusing when they would tell us that something would be done on a particular date, when we knew that it had already happened.) The other thing I've found a bit annoying is that until we reached lock up, they wouldn't give me any sort of time frame, though it's now apparently 9 weeks to handover. Have got heaps of photos, but they're not on this computer... Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 7Sep 05, 2011 3:25 pm Glad to hear all is going to plan Hopefully they give you some heads up on the handover status soon. I would love to see your photos when you put them up I went down to Banksia Grove on Sunday for a drive, I can't beleive the progress of the houses.. everything is moving soo fast! Are you guys first time builders? Yes i am building in Banksia Grove. My settlement too was pretty much same week as yours, By end of August the slab was down. September brick work commenced by end of the month they had started plastering, well first layer. Last week, my roof tiles and ceiling board went up. Looks pretty well Aussie Living are really living to salesman's word so far . I have a combination of the Bradman Games, and the Independence. With the corridor and kitchen moved around to suit the wife's preference. Exciting. Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 9Nov 27, 2011 3:11 pm Hi guys. I'm in Banksia Grove too. We're on Velvet Way, it's a small little road right at the top (or bottom, depending on which way you look at it!), linking both Salwood Loop and Boomerang Loop. Also building with Homebuyers Centre, seems like quite a few folks in the area are. Ours is based off the Ultimate St Marks plan, with a few modifications to suit, of course. Our slab went down mid August, brickwork completed late September. Roof beams early October, roof was on by mid October. Ceilings were done by late October, and not far into November, we hit lock up. As a first time builder in the area, I'd like to hear of your experiences, particularly with Homebuyers. While we're not technically unhappy, I do wish I'd pushed for a better deal back when we first set it up. We were a bit too eager to sign on the dotted line. RubyCate The other thing I've found a bit annoying is that until we reached lock up, they wouldn't give me any sort of time frame, though it's now apparently 9 weeks to handover. I have much the same to report. Up until reaching lock up recently, we were told they can't give us any sort of estimate outside of 6 months from when the slab goes down. And then, yeah, once you're at lock up, you're looking at approximately 9 weeks. I like the fortnightly updates though. Because we're renting in Bentley, it's a good 45 minutes to our house, so while we'd gotten into the habit of going weekly once the walls had gone up, we're now back to fortnightly. It's always nice to hear about what's being done next week too. My thread's in my sig if you're interested in checking it out, I have a lot of pictures up over there. Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 10Nov 27, 2011 4:11 pm Hi I'm building in Banksia Grove too. Getting really close now, we've got the practical completion inspection this week. Really looking forward to being in our own place. There will be a few teething problems I think - like having to use Fuze connect for all internet and TV. I'm still not happy with being forced through one provider. We are building with Celebrations homes. The build has been great so far, a few minor problems along the way but most have been fixed fairly promptly. The communication hasnt been great, but it sounds like we're not alone with that problem! Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 11Nov 27, 2011 4:42 pm jasmin3 Fuze connect Blehh! Thanks for reminding me. We're reasonably heavy internet users, and this is the only reason we're not looking forward to moving. I'm not so fussed on high speed, but I am big on reliability, and apparently their service is prone to disconnections. Not good. Apparently some have had some luck going with vividwireless.com.au instead, but when I go there and type Banksia Grove into their coverage page, the map that loads up is very spotty and it says it's not in coverage at the moment, so your mileage may vary with that one. Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 12Nov 28, 2011 11:19 pm Hello everyone... seems a lot of us is building with HBC... @ Venturai... is Banksia Grove up north? seems funny that you're down south and moving up north and we're up north and moving down south..lols Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 13Nov 28, 2011 11:36 pm srichz @ Venturai... is Banksia Grove up north? seems funny that you're down south and moving up north and we're up north and moving down south..lols Yeah mate it's a long way up. Think Joondalup/Carramar. Even though we've kinda lived south for a few years now, both myself and the missus really preferred the thought of going up north. I don't mind it though, but I'm gonna definitely have to get work up that way. Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 15Nov 29, 2011 12:03 am srichz We love living up north. As what I've said we pretty much didn't do much research and just agreed on an area that's nice enough and what we can afford. Now, too much regrets. I'll give the first rep we had credit for that (even though he since left the company), when we first met him he came out straight away and asked if we wanted to live south or north. Banksia Grove is a long way though, but I'd much rather just travel a bit further if it means having a bigger house. I'm really sorry for your situation though. Something that's supposed to be such a happy time, shouldn't really be filled with regret. Re: HomeBuyers - Banksia Grove 16Dec 04, 2011 5:01 pm Venturai Blehh! Thanks for reminding me. Hi Venturai Agree with you on this one, it's really putting a dampener on the excitement. There are a few discussions on the Banksia Grove facebook page. When you get into the area, if you have any trouble with them please join in the conversations. If it really is as bad as it seems, hopefully if we all rally Banksia Grove they can do something about it. Other than that it seems like a nice area I havent, and i havent looked to much into it, but on face value its not the saviour its trying to make out to be.
