Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 01, 2011 2:43 pm Hey fellas and fellarettes, After reading so many great journeys from other members, have decided to start a thread of our own. We have chosen Clearview Homes, a small boutique builder in the west side to build our lil castle in The Heartlands Estate - Tarneit. Here is the original floorplan: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and what we have personalised it to: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bedroom 2 is now my studio for hair/waxing/makeup so when we decide to have babies, i can still work from home and bedroom 3 is big enough for 2 young kids but that is still years and years away. The kitchen is abit more open now and we've upgraded ceiling height to 2740, internal doors, external doors and sliding aluminium stacker doors to 2400 so it will give us a bigger feel for our little home.. Originally land was supposed to title back in Feb this year but was delayed up until 3 weeks ago. Blessing in disguise as we have been able to save for our wedding in the mean time. Anyhoo, we are meeting the builders to sign contracts on Tuesday and they are expecting build permits to take a week from then. AWESOME! Hopefully we commence building within 2-3 weeks. YAYYYYYY! Total excitement occuring! P.s we've been living with my fiance's parents for 8 months... so I can smell FREEDOM! Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 2Sep 02, 2011 11:40 am I like the changes you made to the original plan BetHeEeee, looks awesome What an exciting time for you with a wedding and a home (of your own) in the works!! I look forward to following your build Hopefully it's quick and stress-free so you can get that freedom asap You must be a very strong person or your future in-laws aren't too bad coz I don't think I could ever live with my in-laws Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 3Sep 02, 2011 11:58 am Hey Peas, Haha yeah, I think im pretty lucky in that sense, the in laws have been like really fun house mates but end of the day, we miss our space and how we roll. Thanks for your post, i cant wait. We have our contract signing on Tuesday, any tips on what to look for in particular? When are you guys expecting handover? Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 4Sep 02, 2011 1:24 pm I looked at the original plan and thought about what changes I would make and bingo.....you had made them! good luck for your build - I look forward to following your progress. Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 5Sep 02, 2011 1:28 pm Hmmm...the only tips I have is make sure you are happy with all your plans before signing off on them because anything you decide to change later will cost you money. Double check all your variations are noted on your addenda and that they are also on your drawings. Then have a drink to celebrate the tedious paperwork stage is over with and the construction stage is about to begin We are expecting our PCI last week of September or early October. Our SS will be going on holidays mid October so he wants to have handover before then Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 6Sep 02, 2011 2:10 pm Thanks Eiffel, the original plan had that hall way door leading to the theatre which is abit pointless with the caveaty sliding doors! With that eliminated the bedrooms are more spacious Glad you likey x Great tips Peas, cheers for that. Did you guys consider with getting a construction lawyer/conveyancer to look through the contracts before signing or not really? Did you have a building inspector during each stage of construction? Oh em gee!! That is so close but so far... it will go sooner than you know!! Saw your new pics from today, beautiful colour door! More pics please hehe We had our colour selections last week! I hope we did ok. We've gone with mostly reds, blacks, whites and a reddish/brown oak colour for laminate floors. We're just so rapt our builder's had a very impressive standard selection.. I think the only thing we upgraded on the day were... the front door, and... the sink. oh and internal door handles to a more straighter design than a curved handle. They've been fantastic so far, just can't wait to see them in action. I wonder if anyone else has built with Clearview homes? Feel free to share your experiences xx Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 8Sep 02, 2011 5:12 pm great plans, good that you can also work from home. goodluck with build looking forward to lots of pics Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 9Sep 03, 2011 10:33 am betHeEeee Did you guys consider with getting a construction lawyer/conveyancer to look through the contracts before signing or not really? Did you have a building inspector during each stage of construction? No we didn't have either. Although you may find a lot of forum members may recommend at least the building inspector. Sounds like your colour selection appointment went well. Got any pics? Love your colour combination, we have gone similar Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 10Sep 05, 2011 11:21 am Thanks guys nice to have some fans hehehe Peas, some pics as requested x This is a pic of what our fascade will look like: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Colours from left to right: Wayward Grey, Red Box (front door is Adam's Red from bristol) and the garage render is Otto's Boy Coal dust struat profile roofing with woodland grey downpipes and black aluminium window frames. We'll be getting ebony (dark grey) holland blinds throughout too! Our appointment for contracts is tomorrow. woo hoo! Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 11Sep 05, 2011 1:31 pm Wow...loving your selections, I'm a fan of the darker colours also Oh and exposed agg driveway (a little jealous ) Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 12Sep 06, 2011 2:11 pm The exposed agg is beautiful but pretty pricey just for some concrete and lil rocks hehe We had our contract signing this morning, it was so nervously exciting! Everything we had requested was in the contracts and plans so we signed away! They have pencilled us in to start end of the month and to be completed Feb'ish next year.. if that's the plan it's 1 month before our wedding! Now i know understand why people only juggle one thing at a time.. but its been great organising both and stress hasn't kicked in yet! Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 13Sep 06, 2011 2:14 pm P.s thoughts on the umbria oak floors? im getting mixed feelings about it now.. hmm ideally we wanted a grey but they didnt have it and it would cost too much to seek an external supplier.. so we went with the umbria oak.. still not too late to change as our builder is flexible but i dont know.. hmmmm Re: Our adventure begins with Clearview Homes - Quest23 14Sep 08, 2011 10:49 am So glad to see you have strong exterior colours.. I was worried that the design restrictions would keep people in safe neutral colours.. It was only after showing them photos of what the colour schemes were, that hey approved them. What colours have you selected for your facade? I am still deciding but thinking of a light sand render with dark blue roof and trim or going a mocha colour instead of the blue.. Still working on that and to be honest, the hardest thing to decide on.. How much longer do you have to go before you have your own place? We're aiming for Feb next year if construction begins at the end of this month. So.. Bring it onnnn like donkey kong! I'm getting the itch now lol of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
