Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 14, 2011 8:31 pm Hi all. Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere on this forum (well I looked with my boy eyes!) but I'm trying to work out where to site my house on acreage. The wife and I have purchased 2.5 acres (65m W X 155m L) just outside Jimboomba and we are thinking of having the house set back 30m. We are looking at building the Baroness 231 with Coral (seems to have good reviews from the majority of people on here). Can anyone give me an indication as to the additional cost for connections ie elec, phone, water etc please. Thanks Murls74 Re: Building on acreage in SE Qld 2Aug 14, 2011 10:23 pm Council/Electricity supplier can give you the connection costs to the street and then ask your Coral sales rep to give you a quote for the cost to connect to the house for the setback you are looking for. Coral only allowed a certain number of meters to connect to the house - I think it was around 10m for my build. The sales rep gave me a quote for all the additions/changes we wanted to make to the plan before we went to tender. Actually, he provided a number of quotes before we paid the deposit, I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be as many surprises when that tender arrived. ~ trying to build our dream home by the sea ~ Re: Building on acreage in SE Qld 3Aug 15, 2011 6:16 am Thanks ESB. I'm waiting for Coral to get back to me prices for a few things we want changed but didn't know they can give me a price forthe connections too! Was thinking I might have to call a sparky and get them to pluck a quote (probably a dangerous thing to do). Just trying to get all my organisation/planning done now because unfortunately the land won't be registered till around the end of the year (once the developer has finished putting in the road, water, elec, phone etc etc. Therefore I have to have something to do in the meantime. Don't know how much for a 30m roadbase driveway by any chance?? Re: Building on acreage in SE Qld 4Aug 15, 2011 8:25 am Murls74 Thanks ESB. Don't know how much for a 30m roadbase driveway by any chance?? Hi Murls. We have almost finished building with Coral (handover next week). Our block is down a battle axe, so we had to get power from the road to our house which was 30metres. The cost in our tender letter was $2189.The water pipe was already up to out block, so it didn't cost any more. Our custome service rep gave us estimates during the planning stage. Good choice going with Coral. We have had no major dramas.I think all builds have hiccups of some sort, but it really is about what they do about it that makes the difference. Re: Building on acreage in SE Qld 6Aug 15, 2011 1:32 pm Murls74 A Ha...a dollar figure Thank you Tamara. Not sure if that is reasonable or not but I'd be happy paying that. Where did you build? We aren't too far from you at all. We are on the edge of Park Ridge, Logan Reserve and Crestmead - Though our address is Crestmead lol. I prefer Logan reserve or Park Ridge Re: Building on acreage in SE Qld 7Aug 15, 2011 1:38 pm Tamara, did you have to pay the 'Beaudesert' price for your home? or were you able to sneak it into Brisbane somehow? I know what you mean about the name thing, our block is right at the Southern end of Cedar Grove (our block backs up to residential fences) but apparently we are Woodhill??? Go figure...... We are in Logan and it came under the Brisbane pricing. Crestmead doesn't have the best reputation, but we are nowhere near the rough area of Crestmead. Re: Building on acreage in SE Qld 9Aug 15, 2011 3:05 pm I know exactly what you mean Tamara. We are currently in Logan Central (formerly woodridge) but hey, it's serving a purpose right now because we are debt free and petrol and groceries are a bit cheaper. We are dying to build and move out there though...getting sick of the noise...just want some quiet... 1 4592 Hi, I contracted a Builder to do a Garage to Bedroom + ensuite conversion (Class 1a), the Builder engaged the Certifier and Engineer and received BDA from the Certifier… 0 5034 Hi all.
