Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 13, 2011 11:37 pm Was great to stumble onto this forum. Found the info here really useful as a reference for our upcoming build. I am trying to build an estimate up from the various quotes I got, and adding allowances to make sure I am covering all bases and that I am comparing apples with apples!. (I know the final price will still blow over my budget , but at least the missus won't blame me for not doing duel diligence on it!) Just curious about the rainwater tanks requirements in Queensland. it seems like it is compulsory but all the project builders excludes it from the base price. And the price they quote are all quite different for the same thing. (well to me anyway, a 5000L tank for flushing the toilet is a 5000L tank!) They all seem exy too, since the last time I installed one on my old house, I only forked out around $800 of my own money, and a bit of the state government's!) I think from the quotes I have got from various builders, the price ranges so far from $4990 (M) to $5950 (P). My question is, could anyone tell me what jennings are quoting for the water tank? Re: RainWater tanks in Queensland 2Aug 15, 2011 9:21 am Hi there, In Queensland, the rainwater tank requirement for new homes is as follows: Detached dwellings: 5,000L Attached dwellings (eg, townhouses): 3,000L With both, the tank must be plumbed internally to your washing machine and your toilets. If you're in a rural area, there may be be a requirement for a larger capacity of water storage, as specified by the local council. In regards to supply and installation expenses, you should be able to source a 5,000L round poly tank, pump, and mains controller switch for approximately $1,500. If you require a slimline tank, you would need to add another $700 to the equation. For the installation, a licensed plumber is needed. A basic, straightforward install should cost you no more than $800. I hope the above helps. Joe Cooper Q Tank That was always going to be a challenge and a test of patience. Full marks to your mate.
