Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 31, 2011 1:02 pm We are looking to build a home on our 13ac block. We started off looking at steel kithomes but have now turned to relocatable/transportable homes. We are wanting to live in it for no longer then a year then rent it out with the 13ac. After that we are going to build our own family home on our other block of land for a permanent house, so basically the other house it just something to pass the time. I would love to hear everyones stories on there experiences building this way, *what builders where used. *how long it took from first enquire. *cost all up if people are willing to share ( would be GREATLY appreciated ) *what fixtures were included. *any further information you think would be helpful. Thank you for reading, and once people have posted replies, i will post back if i have any further questions etc EC Re: HELP! Information wanted on relocatable/transportable ho 3Aug 02, 2011 8:06 pm I was involved in the building, moving and set down of transportable buildings a couple of years ago. The costs for the building are: -Construction of the housing sections including electrical, plumbing and aircon fitout. This usually covers internal doors, floor covering, paint but things like light shades and ceiling fans supplied but not fitted. -Transport to site including trucks, low loaders, escort/pilot vehicles and permits. -Setdown at site including cranes/forklifts as needed. -Site works including land clearing, stumps/piles, plumbing, sewerage, gas, telecommunications and power to the new homes location. -Hookup of the house sections (plumbing and electrical between sections) -Final fit off of fans, light shades, steps, decking. As for a cost, I couldn't tell you as its been a good two years since I had any involvement on the money side. Re: HELP! Information wanted on relocatable/transportable ho 4Aug 02, 2011 10:03 pm Where are you located ? There is a FREE house in SA where all you need to do is move the house to your block. Look in your own state and look for similar. Look on Gumtree, e-bay ETC.... there are always people giving away house to make room for their million dollar babies. This house 2 hours North of Adelaide looks to be in reasonable nick. If I was to get it moved to 2 hours or so from where it is my guess is about $20,000 For that you get a good 3 bedroom house. Pretty hard to beat. Re: HELP! Information wanted on relocatable/transportable ho 5Aug 03, 2011 3:03 pm we are in the process of having our old prefab house removed and have ordered a new transportable home.ours is not very big, as our kids are getting older.its 106m2 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom and a total cost of $103,000, but we got @ $10,000 of upgrades.our upgrades were, mesh security doors, toilet, tiling, glazing in windows, extra insulation wherever we can,[walls, ceiling, floors etc]also overhead cupboards in kitchen, etc.We looked at renovating and restumping our older home and would have cost us close to that amount to do a decent reno.We live in rural SA, so choices of companies is a bit limited, but the company we went with does free delivery if within 100 km, so that was a big factor for us.we looked at other companies in adelaide but delivery costs were pricey and we decided that money would be better spent on the actual house rather than freight.some adelaide companies were, sarah homes, rivergum, selecta and Im sure there were more.the company we are going with are based in pt lincoln and have a lot of homes that go all over the state and interstate too.I know theyre delivering houses to NT at the moment, so they must be pretty comparable in price. Re: HELP! Information wanted on relocatable/transportable ho 6Aug 03, 2011 3:08 pm forgot to add, that includes all light fittings etc which we upgraded a lot of our electrical also.all we need to do is flooring and aircon.all wiring etc is done already just need to have an electrician and plumber come and hook up when the house is delivered. 0 4934 We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6131 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74220 |
