Building at Coomera Waters QLd 21Sep 27, 2011 11:21 am Wow, your house seems to be going up quick for a double storey I love the outlook from your block, I hope all those trees are staying. Coomera is such a great area, nice to see there are decent size blocks available. I love your pool, dreaming about having one of our own one day, if we aren't in too much debt once the house is done. For now it will just have to be the good old 10' above ground This is going to be a great home, what a lucky family you are. Best wishes, Jess Re: Lock up stage! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 22Sep 27, 2011 11:59 am Thank you Jess, it is turning to be a great house. We are so happy with our builder. He is so easy going... I think the painters are inside today... It has been going up pretty quickly for us. We r hoping to be in by Xmas... Re: Lock up stage! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 23Oct 13, 2011 10:26 am Little update, kitchen is going in tomorrow. The painters have been busy painting, guess it takes a while to do 3 coats in a double storey house... Once they are finished we can paint our media room... The pool is getting further work done also. Going down tomorrow afternoon for a look, can't wait. Re: Lock up stage! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 24Oct 13, 2011 10:47 am Sounds like we are at pretty similar stages at the moment. Our kitchen went in last week, as did our tiles, and the painter is in there at the moment. Can't wait to see some more pics of your place. Building at Coomera Waters QLd 25Oct 13, 2011 11:07 am Upnorth, you are ahead of me...our painters are still busy. Our Tiler will only start towards end of next week. Your place is looking great. This is all so great seeing it all come together. Re: Lock up stage! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 26Oct 14, 2011 10:43 am Got a call this morning from our builder. Had to rush to the house to give the kitchen installer the cabinet lights so he knows what size hole to cut... So all cabinets and vanities going in today... I think it will look nice... Painters are still there, stacker stone has gone in by the pool waterfeature. Will go back down tomorrow morning and take some pics. Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 27Oct 15, 2011 10:54 am Well the kitchen is basically in along with the vanities. Stone benchtop to go in sometime next week. I love the overheads. We are having the same internal doors as you, love them Getting close now, looks great Jess Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 29Oct 15, 2011 2:03 pm Hi Jess, you gave good taste, same doors, lol. I like them because nO dust can settle on them as it would be the case if you had horizontal lines in them. We a pretty happy with the kitchen. Only thing in the laundry I wanted the benchtop to run over the washing machine to conceal everything. Thought I had discussed this with our builder. I emailed him so wiil see what he comes back with. I know it's only the laundry but it's just a cleaner look. What are everyones thoughts on this? Dies it really matter? Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 31Oct 15, 2011 2:24 pm That was my reasoning with the doors too! We have the colonial style ones here with the 4 panels, they get so dusty. I chose bullnose skirts and arcs for the same reason. I asked our cabinet maker to extend our laundry bench to the wall too, I will have to make sure it is done. I would definitely chase it up, It's nice to have a bit more benchspace. Did you sign a variation for it or anything? Is it on your plans? Hopefully they can correct it for you. Nice laundry sink by the way! Very swish. Our cabinet maker tried to talk me into plain white cabinets with a granite-look laminate top, as it is "just the laundry"! Such a male thing to say. It's not just a laundry when you're the one who does all the washing, ironing, folding, sorting I got my Ash Zebrano laminate and extended benchtop in, not just a laundry to me So I totally understand why you aren't happy with your benchtop not being as you wanted. Jess Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 32Oct 15, 2011 3:09 pm Well you are absolutely right when man say "it's just a laundry" I would have liked a stone bench top in there but our builder talked us out, obviously more to save himself money. He has come back to me already ( he is really good like that) basically I should have put it in writing, so it is my fault and too late unless I want to spend lots more extra $$$. I will live with it for now, even it is such a small thing. Oh well hopefully I won't spend that much time in the laundry and do my ironing in the family room watching tv . Fact is builders don't like changing things after they are done. We are so happy with everything else and I guess when you build for the first time there are defenite mistakes to be made... I will survive. I am getting nearly everything else I wanted in this house, so it's all good. Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 33Oct 15, 2011 3:38 pm That's a shame. It's so hard to remember everything. I hate that we have mentioned things to our builder along the way and they have said "just mention it at selections". Well we signed contracts before selections and now it is too late to do some of the things I wanted to change without a variation cost. You're right, first time builders are bound to miss things. I am so glad to have H1 though, have learnt heaps! I guess there are always things that you wish you had done differently. Your home will be beautiful, and you will probably forget all about the benchtop. And if it bugs you that much, it probably wouldn't cost to much to replace it after handover. I would have loved stone everywhere, but just couldn't justify the cost. Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 34Oct 15, 2011 5:56 pm Yes Jess, H1 is fantastic. At least my laundry sink looks quite fancy I think. My builder said it would have been to tight to fit more cupboard space there as the door way is next to it. You cant see it on the photo. But as you said, maybe we can look at it in the future if it becomes a problem. Lucky I dont live in the laundry... Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 35Oct 15, 2011 6:32 pm oh baby, i love your colours.... and i love your stairs, how long untill you will be in have they given you a date? Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 36Oct 15, 2011 7:26 pm No date as yet Trish, we don't want to hassle him either. Hubby thinks we will be in by end of November... Might be pushing it a bit. The pool guy has all his gear there and he wants to finish the pool. This is only usually done once the house is nearly finished. I will say we are very optimistic and will be in by xmas... at least we will be swimming, lol Re: Kitchen is in! Building at Coomera Waters QLd 37Oct 15, 2011 7:32 pm Wow Tan, love your kitchen, it looks fantastic, what colour are the cupboards?? Oh and dont worry to much about your laundry, you will walk into that room and see that sexy sink and forget about the extended bench. Look forward to seeing it all come together Re: Kitchen is in! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also after a couple of emails to our builder regarding our exterior paint ( it just looks to grey and nothing like the brown we wanted to contrast the Jasper roof) he said gi to dulux and see if you can find another colour closer to what you wanted... I did went back to the house this arvo, the painter was there so we put the sample on... He thinks it's better so do I. What are everyone elses thoughts? The guy from dulux actually said the brochure we initially picked the colour from was discontinued as the colour was computer generated and not an actuall colour swatch... Thank goodness second coat hasn't gone on yet. Great effort from our builder also...
