Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 28, 2011 7:11 am Hi everyone, we are in the process of building our new home. Just wondering how many of you building have or are looking into installing solar power. We are on the Gold Coast and it certainly is hard to pick a company...I notice a lot of houses being built in our estate, or finished have solar power panels. One is not even finished and has panels on, quite clever i think, feed the grid and get paid as you are not living there and using much power... any comments, advise are welcome. We are planning to stay in this house for a while and I figure it is worth it as it would pay for itself in a few years... Looking at a 2kw unit at the minimum Re: Installing solar power in brand new home 2Jul 28, 2011 12:02 pm Early next month we are having solar power installed through Origen we wanted 5 kw but the biggest that Origen do are 3 kw systems so we are going with them, interest free payments for the system just under ten thousand dollars over two years. Re: Installing solar power in brand new home 3Jul 28, 2011 12:22 pm I have been looking at origin also, actually due to the interest free period and also I think chances are better going with Origin instead of a small company, as I hope Origin will still be around in 10 years or so in case you have a warranty issue... No worries mate. I am currently looking into replacing the windows entirely for 2x or 3x glazing as well as new front doors. I sadly have no other choice due the window… 2 3598 Ask yourself if the insurance company will be aware of the Reno. 4 7668 Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 6075 |
