Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 27, 2011 12:23 pm Hi all, Has anyone recently build/are currently building a double storey plantation home around Brisbane? We are looking at building either the empire vogue or the majestic on acreage. I would be keen to know what your experiences are and any things we should watch out for, things to get included or not. There does not seem to be many recent posting on building with plantation on the site. Kch Re: Planation homes brisbane 2Jul 27, 2011 2:56 pm Where are you building? We're probably a couple of weeks from handover. Our experience has been pretty good so far. No real dramas at all. Mind you, we didn't change too much on the plans or anything else. Whatever you can get done post-handover eg. air con, rendering driveways, fencing as they whack 20% on top of everything. At the very least get quotes/estimates so you know the cost differences. Generally they seem to have a good system and certainly give you lots of information about what to expect WRT all the different stages and what your obligations and responsibilities are. I will add that it certainly pays to keep on top of things, but our site supervisor has been really good, TBH, I was a little wary of them initially only because I remember the rotten reputation Henley had in Queensland about 10 years ago (hence why they trade under a different name now). But overall I'd recommend. Probably the best thing they did was to include allowances for stuff like electrical fittings and soil types in your initial quote to avoid nasty surprises later on. Re: Planation homes brisbane 6Aug 03, 2011 5:40 pm Hi kch, I am just starting the process with Plantation, we are signing off on our New Home Proposal tomorrow then we have an appointment in a couple of weeks to sign the contract and start getting building approval from the council (BCC). They have been good so far, sometimes I've had to chase them to get answers to my questions.
