Browse Forums Building A New House Re: EdenBrook Pakenham 126Nov 30, 2012 7:10 pm sfern Hi ZephielX welcome to the forum!! I'm the one building beside you to the raiway end and me to hoping to move in late dec. fingers crossed cardinia road connection was supposed to be opened early this month. but it's still not. Hi and thanks sfern. That's awesome, we'll have to let each other know when we're in so we can come around and say hello to the neighbours! Your house is looking very nice by the way! Good luck to both of us being in soon haha. Ah fair enough, well it should be / hopefully be soon then. Also, I spoke to Aftel earlier today, and apparently we need some connections box or something like that, which is usually in the garage. Do any other PD builders know if we usually already have this or if Aftel have to put it in? I know we have the telstra underground thing, but I don't think it's that. Thanks again everyone. EdenBrook Pakenham 127Nov 30, 2012 7:30 pm Hi ZepheilX I built with PD they should have offered you a data pack at your electrical appt. When we had ours there was lots if confusion as to which pack we needed. There should be a box in your garage where your data points and tv points all come from. Then aftel (or CNTCorp) connect your fibre to the side of your house and from there to your garage. Make sure they do it, especially with a double story house I'd rather get a data point upstairs now than try do it afterwards, even if arent going to use it straight away Re: EdenBrook Pakenham 128Nov 30, 2012 9:13 pm Wateman Hi ZepheilX I built with PD they should have offered you a data pack at your electrical appt. But yeah we have the data pack. Thanks again for the advice! To get the larger pkg (professional pkg) it will cost approx $1.4k more, but they tell me it gives me the ability to have up to 8 TV points. What did you pick, and how did you come to that decision? #confused Re: EdenBrook Pakenham 130Dec 04, 2012 10:54 pm Hi Guys, Just a update on the service providers.. http://www.cntcorp.com.au/partners.php a new provider is added. EdenBrook Pakenham 131Dec 04, 2012 11:09 pm Hi Jazz80, I picked the bigger package, I wanted more tv and data points so I have a tv point and data point in every bedroom and both lounge rooms. Wireless can give you Internet all over but will never be as fast as wired. It's expensive, but just so much easier to have it done from the start. Great picture too btw I had an electrician in that isn't far away and uses an antenna with a booster and he said he can't get a signal anywhere near that good.. Swedil, I've never heard of Ascensa! I just want a provider I've actually heard of! Lol Re: EdenBrook Pakenham 132Dec 05, 2012 6:17 am Wateman Hi Jazz80, I picked the bigger package, I wanted more tv and data points so I have a tv point and data point in every bedroom and both lounge rooms. I have been going back and forth on whether to spend the extra for the bigger pkg or not, but i think you have cleared my mind. What I might do, seeing as i am getting very close to my budget, is get 4-5 points wired now and leave 3 for later...but try and get some holes pre done so its a bit easier later on. Plus you get more points in the data cabinet in your garage. Otherwise you would have to add the extra in the garage later Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Excuse the mess! EdenBrook Pakenham 134Dec 05, 2012 7:13 am P.s. if you plan on using VoIP for your home phone, the phone points aren't needed, you can convert them to data points for a couple hundred dollars later on. I haven't done this yet but I asked Argus for a rough quote when they were here. Re: EdenBrook Pakenham 135Dec 05, 2012 12:33 pm cheers for the fotos, they really help! do we know how much it would cost if you did get the smaller pkg to upgrade it to something similar to the larger pkg? eg upgrade from 3 to 8 tv/data points? EdenBrook Pakenham 137Dec 05, 2012 12:55 pm I'm not sure of the cost to upgrade later.. I guess you would have to get a bigger tv splitter thing (the black thing in the pic) I think doing it after its the labour that's expensive. The wire and the plugs are super cheap but running them through after plaster is more difficult. If you went with somebody other than Argus who PD use I'm sure you could do it cheaper though. We just wanted it ready to go when we moved in EdenBrook Pakenham 140Dec 05, 2012 4:42 pm It's not compulsory but you don't save any money you get 8 points if you just have a TV point it counts as one f your points, if you have the multiple socket one it also counts as 1 point. I don't have austar but there are more coaxial cables in the data cabinet that I assume connect to the austar box if we got it |
