Hi all,

Does anyone know the price of the following?

1. Upgrade from carpet to tile (As I'm looking to upgrade my hallway to tile)
2. Provide laminate base cabinet to laundry sink
3. Provide an oven tower

Hi there,

1. Technically no additional costs if you stick to the same category, ie from cat 1 carpet to cat 1 tiles, same cost or included... But all cat 1/included tiles are ceramic only which may not be suitable, for high traffic areas porcelain tiles are better but costly!

2. Not sure for just the cabinet, but PD has an option of relocating the laundry sink which comes with a base cabinet included & an extended bench top (both laminate), but unsure if available to all house ranges, you should check, could be part of a pack

3. Again not sure, but I remember looking into when we were thinking of building the Barossa (as displayed in Wantirna) and it was a bit expensive, but also depends on finish you choose, ie laminate or upgrade... will see if I can find the paperwork provided by SC

Hi Bermuda,
The wall oven tower as per Barossa in wantrina is about $2600 excluding ovens.
The laundry base and overhead cabinets as per Barossa is about $1100 including extended bench top and extra tiling.

Hi guys,
At what point did everyone get first contact from their SS? We have our site cut this Thursday (19th) and haven't heard from our SS... Or been given any contact details for him/her. Just curious if I should have had contact from them by now?

Just wondering if it is ok that our new plaster walls/ ceiling is getting wet? We still have a few holes in our roof and the rain is coming in and running all over and through our new plastered ceiling and walls? Is this worth raising with the SS or is this normal and not worth bothering him with? Cheers

I haven't got to that but... I plan to cover site visits, inspections, how he wants to be notified of any problems, how to get in contact with me and if there is anything I can do to help it all go smoothly.

Nope, it's not unusual.
I don't think it's the way it's supposed to be but it's the way it was for us and we didn't even get updates from our BC.

They will 100% need to be replaced. Plaster should NOT be getting wet. Make sure you tell your SS as soon as possible. They should not be starting plaster until the house is 100% water tight.

You should first be contacted by your Slab Coordinator - they are a different person and organise the foundations. We only got introduced to our SS after the base stage was completed.

Sounds pretty strange to me, ask your BC for his contact details. Through our build we dealt directly with the SS and never heard anything from the BC.

Thanks! We actually had a call from our Slab Supervisor this morning. Seems nice, very easy to talk to and explained the process with having a Slab Supervisor and a Site Supervisor. I just thought one person did the whole job, but makes sense to me now to split it up!

After examining the photos we took for our kitchen, we noticed that part of our stove is not aligned with our kitchen island enclosure:

It's out of the kitchen boundary by about 200mm!

I checked our original floor plans from sales and the stove was inside the kitchen area, but the dim wit drafter at contract drew it outside the kitchen boundaries. They didn't tell us and we didn't notice! (and I hate it because I feel like it's partly my fault because I didn't spot this error).

Damn I feel like our dream home is falling apart, first the wrong cabinets installed and now an inconveniently (and disastrously) placed stove.

Lesson learnt, next time I really need an independent to review our floorplans before we sign the contract!

Porter Davis is currently looking at shifting the stove around, fingers crossed!

Had our first meeting with Site Supervisor this morning. I asked if we would be getting a copy of the BSS Group independent inspections that PD have done at each stage and the answer was a very emphatic "no".
