Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 9062Feb 07, 2014 1:44 pm Hi All, We are building the Montague 19 with extended kitchen and just wondering on some timelines. We are coming to the end of things. They have installed and fitted off all the power outlets, A/C vents etc, tiling is about 80% complete and internal painting is complete. Just wondering about how long from here we could expect to have the keys. Basically we have all our furniture and appliances on order and as they have been moving extremely quickly on site, we advised the suppliers that delivery would be late March. Also a couple queries: On the timber frames for the cavity sliders and entrance door, they have painted but you can still see the wood grain through the gloss paint on some patches on them. I would expect an even finish on all the timber panels, is that correct? On my kitchen window, looking from the outside at the top of the window at the lintel, the lintel appears straight but the window gap for the aluminium infil is about 20mm at one end and 35 at the other, indicating that the window is not installed level. Looking from the inside, as the window has a square cut plaster frame in lieu of the standard arcatrave, they have leveled the plaster so it is not noticable. Should I have them rectify it? Thanks in advance for any feedback, Brian Re: Porter Davis homes 9063Feb 07, 2014 2:00 pm Hi, Can anyone please provide the brand/make and model of the central ducted heating that PD installs? I'm trying to get them to spec a common controller for both heating and cooling, and they seem reluctant. The evaporative cooling in our spec is Brivis, and I'm planning to upgrade to the Brivis Networker controller which is capable of handling both (instead of having 2 manual controllers). Also, anyone upgraded the controller to the Network? What was the upgrade cost? Thanks for your responses -Albert Porter Davis homes 9064Feb 07, 2014 2:36 pm Basic heating units are from 3 star energy rating. Those units won't work with network controller. You need to upgrade heating unit to mx35i. This is 4.2 star rating unit. Only controller upgrade should cost around $300. Heating unit upgrade will cost you around $700. Also this will give you zoning ability. Re: Porter Davis homes 9065Feb 07, 2014 6:49 pm ![]() Basic heating units are from 3 star energy rating. Those units won't work with network controller. Re: Porter Davis homes 9066Feb 07, 2014 9:29 pm Sambogirl, not something you want to find out at this stage of the build. Our tiling is almost finished and so is the cash! So many things to get organised, fences, driveways, letter boxes, clothes lines, it seems never ending. Good luck, I hope it works out for you Adj, hope things are back on track now and moving to PCI, we are still waiting for a date. Country lifestyle, love your bricks! Looking great and moving so fast. Re: Porter Davis homes 9067Feb 07, 2014 10:18 pm ![]() Hi All, We are building the Montague 19 with extended kitchen and just wondering on some timelines. Thanks in advance for any feedback, Brian Hi Brian We had our PCI today and we noticed the same thing, ie the door frames looked like they didnt have enough coats of paint. We weere told that this is due to the wood being porus, though they would give it another coat of paint Re: Porter Davis homes 9068Feb 09, 2014 9:21 pm Wonder if my new home that I am building will be there tomorrow, this photo taken outside my sister's house half an hour ago, my home is 500 meters from her, in line with that fiery red glow in the distance. Update:They are evacuating the Nursing Home and the Willowmavin Estate, it's all being co-ordinated by Emergency Services, they can't leave Kilmore and are being directed to the football oval. Re: Porter Davis homes 9074Feb 09, 2014 11:16 pm Omg! Hope everyone's safe. Worst part comes after couple of days in news that whole fire was started by some underage who cannot be identified due to age reason. I'm just so sick of these excuses. Pls take care country lifestyle and inglewood, hope your houses will be all safe and sound. Re: Porter Davis homes - appliances? 9076Feb 10, 2014 12:21 am ![]() Hi There, We have just finished building with Porter Davis and negotiated not to use any Blanco appliances. We installed twin Siemens ovens, a large Siemens Induction plate and a Serius Range Hood. All purchased from E and S Trading. We had E and S come out to our house and draw up the template needed for the induction plate. Make sure you keep on Porter Davis's back,or they will forget to cut the template on your bench top. Happy to answer any other questions that you might have. All the Best. Hi, I am glad I have found this thread. I am building the PD Waldorf and am also getting twin Siemens ovens, induction, steam oven, dishwasher etc. from E&S trading (after renovating our current kitchen a couple of years ago and getting the Bosch/Siemens appliances I couldn't get Blanco either (looked at their showroom and it just didn't compare - I love my appliances!). I am still at tender stage. I have organised all the appliances except for the rangehood. I was deciding between a Siemens undermount (which I have currently) or a Qasair undermount (industrial strength similar to Sirious). I have not been able to get the ducting details from PD yet to see how the rangehood is ducted out (as it is a two storey house but the kitchen is not on an external wall so am potentially worried that the Siemens rangehood would not be effective). Can you please tell me if you had to change the way PD ducted the rangehood out of the house compared to standard? Discovered that PD sales consultant brought his clients of 5-6 to viewing my site and went inside the house. He said he has got permission with one of SS. This was crap! I gave him 5 mins and his clients leave my property immediately... I'm expressing my fury and so frustration! Unbelievable that PD open someone's home without an owner's permission. How could this be happen?! Have anyone got this issues? Re: Porter Davis homes 9080Feb 10, 2014 1:57 pm When we were deciding which house to build, the sales consultant offered to take us to see some houses that were under construction. This is especially the case for designs that didn't have a display home (eg. Brooklyn). We didnt end up taking their offer so am unsure whether they would have got owners permission.
