@MummaDJ, we were originally going to go with hebel for energy saving reason, we aren't that fond with bricks anyway, especially not with that range of cat 1 bricks PD has to offer. I can't remember now why it didn't go ahead @_@ How are you liking it?
@inglewood, only the rendered section that has terrible brickwork. Let us know how you go with the taps & basins, I would like to change mine too!
Now to my bricks problem, I couldn't make it so DH was alone with this, in fact I haven't even met our SS yet.

DH seems to trust him a lot though, he's been doing a fantastic job with our house. I should give him more credits on that.
The explanation was that the gaps will be filled with the render as you guys pointed out. Apparently the rougher or should I say terrible brickwork, the better the render base will stick. I can only hope it's true. The brickwork elsewhere (not rendered sections) is brilliant. Maybe they did it purposely for that very reason, or just being lazy cause it will be rendered anyway, I don't know. Somehow I keep thinking if I sent an inspector to look at it, they wouldn't accept it. But we are going to get pass this now. Overall very happy with the house!
SS also said that fixing will be done before the break. It's moving so fast!
By the way, did anyone negotiate the percentage of your progress payments? I think 10% for completion is really unfair with so much more to do. We will only be at week 10 when they will have issued 90% of the invoices. And it will easily take another 4 weeks to complete (ignoring the break).
Yes i negotiated our percentage
10/15/35/25/10
but that was on the banks request & again our final payment is still 10%
