Had our reg wed call from SS - will meet him onsite on tuesday so hubby can see, inside plaster in alfresco and garage, and understair wall should be finished next week so painting can start.
And he has allowed me to organize blind quotes for next week too

so may go double check fabric, I am resisting asking for pci/finish date as everything seems to be a fewq weeks behind what papers suggest and don't want to be dissappointed so figure it better not to ask too early...

Mumma dj - how's the house? Driveway in yet?

No it was postponed to Thursday then again to Friday. Most the things we highlighted werE still not done when we met our SS on Tuesday. Fingers crossed major issues that we are not sure that will be done are matching e stain on the front door and door frame. And the cladding on balcony top it's not done properly so many pieces joint together and the joints are very visible. Will try and get a phot to show what it looks like.

I have just looked at the PD site and noticed that Brookvale has been take off the list of double story houses. Do you know why this was taken off. Will PD ever build brookvale again?

Hi Yellow,

To answer your question, the Brookvale design has been evolved to meet new 6 Star requirements and is now replaced by the Brooklyn. You can find the details for this design on the PD website here http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#/homeviewer/brooklyn/50

Might be a bit of a silly question but what is the standard for how the water is drained for a washing machine. Is it always via a tube connecting to a drain at the top of the laundry trough? Has anyone designed their laundry so that its connected to the pipe inside the trough cabinet?

cut a hole in your cabinet and connect it to the drain (use a hole saw)

Today we had our tender appointment - and reading countless bad reviews about the tender process and after heading in anxious about what was ahead we were very surprised how easy it was and how it was only a few k over our initial quote which was mainly due to site costs and something our sales rep missed. Research, preparation and organisation is the key to an easy tender process.

Would be happy to share our tender prices if anyone was interested.

We are building a Canterbury in Aston, Canterbury. Land to title in Jan and build to commence in Feb.

Will keep reading with a keen eye on how everyone is going

Welcome Courtney. Hopefully with all the feedback received, it is being taken on board. I know I spoke with one of the Customer Service Managers and he said that they were reviewing the process to make it more streamline. Great result for you.

Serenity - yes, it is standard as you say re WM taps. They also don't drill hole through cupboard, this is left to owner so that we put it where we want it. Then just hook up as tstra mentioned.

My driveway has been done, just took some photos today and will post tonight. Little dirty as landscapers here today in the torrential rain!!

Hi MummaDJ, your driveway looks great.
Do you mind if I ask how much a SqM? and What the mix is called? I am trying to get quotes at present for our driveway for when we move in and it's doing my head in! The number of people who either arent interested when i say we are not moved in yet or want to quote over the phone is amazing.
I just can't understand how you can give an accurate quote sight unseen. :::

Anyone else have this problem?

I have to chase up a quote for paths down the side of the house in the back, was hoping to talk to the concrete chap prior to him doing our driveway, which was part of a promotion pack I bought.

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear in my initial post - when I look underneath the sink, there isn't a provision to connect the washing machine outlet to the pipe i.e. its not like the kitchen sink where there is a spigot on the U trap.

Hence my question, is it standard for the pipe underneath the laundry sink to have a spigot for connection to the washing machine as standard?

now it's Tuesday.

As the issues highlighted haven't been completed yet. SS. said he wants to complete everything before handover. Having delayed handover couple of times hope he does and we get the keys with no pending issues.

I keep reading through everyone posts and wishing I had the same problems you have... we have a huge issue with the bushfire attack level assessment... we have been classified as Flame zone and can't build, while our first door neighbour is BAL 12,5. Trying to resolve this issue for the past 2 weeks and no one seems to be at fault, not the city council, not the developer not the builder, not the building commission, not the building inspector... NO ONE... and we are just stuck and out of ideas on what to do... so frustrating

Our laundry pipe had a spigot for connecting the washing machine as a standard fitting. It might just be an oversight that your SS can sort out.

The configuration might be different if you have a top loader setup, as those often run into a hole on the top of the sink instead of underneath. Ours is a front loader with the bench extending across the entire wall so there was no other way to hook it up.

I was also lucky enough to catch the cabinet maker while he was there - he very nicely cut the hole for me.
