Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 8461Nov 13, 2013 4:47 pm Staircase was going in today when I drove past too muddy to get pics though, site security system (after vandalism, don't ask hopefully lil punks are deterred now) is in and cornice is up downstairs at least, haven't seen upstairs. Scaffold is on roof for garage and alfresco tiling but not sure when that will happen due to booooooo melbs weather. So excited can't wait to be in my home! It's looking fabulous Re: Porter Davis homes 8463Nov 13, 2013 5:23 pm Amazing clairemumto5, our garage roof was framed today and it poured in the east! All our plaster is now finished inside. Cornices inside upstairs and downstairs. Still working with our SS on the kitchen window issue, luckily we have raised it early to avoid the issues Tinker had. We are wrapt with our SS he is brilliant. Really doing a great job on site and with communication too. He says if may take awhile as PD have changed window suppliers but he will get it done. Re: Porter Davis homes 8464Nov 13, 2013 5:35 pm That's fantastic to read progress on your builds (both Claire and BackPocket). Even in this nasty weather, good to see ball is rolling for you. Any photos backpocket? Re: Porter Davis homes 8465Nov 13, 2013 6:43 pm Back Pocket Amazing clairemumto5, our garage roof was framed today and it poured in the east! That's great news. happy to hear the window issue is been taken care off. Would have been great if ours was taken care of at the beginning. But at least it's done back pocket Love to see pictures. That's exciting I was thrilled to see our staircase for the first time. Our alfresco and garage tilling took a long time to be completed and it's not cause the weather. Porter Davis homes 8467Nov 13, 2013 7:19 pm Hey everyone.. Does anybody know if it's possible to remove things at the contract signing? I'm a bit confused as to how it's happened, after being rather thorough at my quote stage, and right with my selections, this afternoon I was informed of the total house price and it's $27k above my quote, after barely upgrading anything at electrical and colours. I was expecting 7-10k extra It's tough doing this on my own, I thought I was really careful, but somehow the house is more expensive than last time when I built with my ex and we upgraded plenty My contract signing is tomorrow so not sure how things will go there Re: Porter Davis homes 8468Nov 13, 2013 7:26 pm did you have tender appointment? can't see any reason why PD won't let you remove items during contract appointment. if you can add new items then should be allowed to remove too. Re: Porter Davis homes 8471Nov 13, 2013 8:13 pm Wateman, yes, you definitely can remove upgrades. It's amazing how quickly things can add up. Sometimes things appear that you didn't ask for though, so maybe this has happened to you and you can just remove it. For those that don't know, Access houses don't have a tender per se. If you can have the contract re-done without those things added that will make life much less confusing, but they prob wont do that though. We had several PCVs to rectify mistakes and things we wanted removed, it was a bit messy, but we got it sorted in the end. We found that anything we 'requested a price on' ended up in the contract so then we had to have the PCVs to remove the extra items that we didn't want. Oh no tiles on the garage floor meant roof tiles it took ages and for the scaffolding to come down. Re: Porter Davis homes 8475Nov 13, 2013 11:36 pm inglewood Wateman Hey everyone.. Yes you definitely can remove stuff that aren't structural. Specially as they add things you just want to know prices on. We had two contract appointments as we couldn't finish it one the first day. Some stuff was put into the contract it was re-done. But we did have few PCV. Inglewood is right it was def less messy. You have to read every word carefully see it's exactly what you want when they do PCVS. Good luck Re: Porter Davis homes 8478Nov 14, 2013 1:11 pm Thanks for all your replies peeps! Turns out it was a lot of stressing for no reason! The contract didn't include my promotion discount, so once that came off the price came right back down to where I thought it would be! Contract signed today, so now it's a matter of annoying the bank enough to get things sorted and moving! Re: Porter Davis homes 8479Nov 14, 2013 2:26 pm I have a question to all double storey owners here, what's your fire escape plan from upstairs? Someone asked me this question at work, and have no answer except staircase which could be blocked incase of fire. A drop ladder from balcony, like movies? Re: Porter Davis homes 8480Nov 14, 2013 3:34 pm Adj - the bifolds and stairs look great - so wish we could have afforded all the upgrades! makes our staircase look very boring but so long as its functional i'm sure I will get over it and Mirz - had never even thought of it and hopefully would never need to but I hadn't ever planned escape from our old single either...
