Hi Claire, yes we have the Cat 3 carpet with upgrade underlay (mid range).
PCI now next week.

Hi Ally007, we are using "blindsonline.com.au" They do curtains and pelmets as well as blinds, we used them for our current house and will be using them for the new house as well.

has anyone's building coordinator let them put in their own data cabling etc at the rough in stage?
We are hoping we can, but thought i'd check it out

Suzy, no I can't imagine you being allowed to do any works at all yourself during the building period. The contract stipulates this restriction. You could always ask though.

Hi Suzybuzy, you need to talk to your SS. We did a few things in our last build like noggins etc for tv's and heavy paintings etc. Usually though they take no responsibility, so if another trade comes and rips out what you have done or cuts cables or anything it is tough luck.

Just a tip, don't put anything in until after lockup. Even the pre-wiring done by my builder was cut by vandals, making it necessary for them to re-do quite a lot of it. While I don't really care if the builder needs to re-do cabling (they budget for this sort of thing) I wouldn't want to personally pay for re-doing large amounts of data cabling.

Site theft and vandalism isn't a huge problem, but even on my relatively quiet site I was hit multiple times (steel and timber stolen, copper wiring stolen/cut).

Just wondering if anyone could provide their experience with their render - we asked for the Chatsworth facade as per the display home, the plans did not reflect this and unfortunately we did not pick up on it.

We've tried asking for a building variation to be raised but we have been told that 'additional render stock cannot be ordered in time'. Mind you we've just hit lock up stage.......

In any case, just wanted to check on people's experience on whether render applied at a later time would stick out like a sore thumb?

Do you mean having it done after handover? It should look fine i would think. I know I asked for some changes to render after contract signing but because plans were approved by developer it was not possible to change....

We had our Wall TV points installed and they are not reacessed into the wall, was there any issue with swapping them over for you?

Yep. Make sure they don't put them too high. Mine ended up a good 15cm higher than I had asked for.

If you check your Argus sheet it will explicitly refer to recessed wall mounts so there shouldn't be too much hassle from PD at least.

I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the install though. In retrospect it would have been better (and a lot cheaper) to handle this after handover.

Hi Corz, I have just posted pictures of the recessed points for wall mounted TV on my blog. This is how it was done for us. Look at the latest post and scroll to the bottom and you will see a heading "Electricals", you can clearly see how they are recessed.

Thanks Claire for thinking of us, unfortunately postponed due to some things not finalised. So PCI now next Thursday. Great that our SS didn't want to present an unfinished house to us. I have my Independent Inspection on Monday. It appears now that all things have been attended to (just about) and the house cleaners are due to come in today.

We finally had handover last Friday! yay! There is still a couple of minor things that need fixing which our SS is on top of, but other than that I love our new home. ::kiss::
