Our Blog: http://porterdavismontague21.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Porter Davis homes 7322May 20, 2013 8:48 pm Oh no! How disappointing for you. Are they going to do something before your SS gets back or do you have to wait to get it all fixed? Fingers crossed that it does not delay your build too much. Better to get it right before you move in so you can make sure that the tile AND all the surrounding walls are repaired and repainted properly Re: Porter Davis homes 7323May 20, 2013 9:03 pm ![]() Yeay we finally have some activity happening on our lot! Site cut happens today! we're building the Marbella 42.. So far we've been very happy with how things have panned out.. There were some hiccups along the way and it was quite stressful past few months but now I'm just excited that we're finally building! I really hope our build experience would be as good as it's been with the admin side of things.. Fantastic stuff. This is very exciting times. We are 4 weeks in front of you, so enjoy. It is so much fun watching the next few weeks. Our roof trusses were started today! I remember someone else saying that they had brickbond and the tiler stack tiled them as he thought that is how all wanted it. We are also doing brickbond, I have made sure the plans have it clearly listed, so will be watching intently when we get to that stage. I hear other builders get the tiler to meet with the home owners just to clarify the tiling before starting. Do PD do this? Would save a lot of heartache with errors! Re: Porter Davis homes 7325May 20, 2013 9:39 pm Well we have our ss' s manager looking afyer our build while he's away worse part is all the shower frames and taps and all are in so they have to come out aswell everything was fine til this. Just a shame we cant get to the build much our we could have caught it earlier or if the 24/7 hadn't been shut down with out a replacement in place to see pictures of build. Will have to see how it turns out. Building the Montague 21 by Porter Davis at The Estuary, Leopold. I'm wondering if perhaps you saw the vent in the hallway or another room? Regards, Helen Porter Davis Homes Questions? Not sure about everyone else but my SS did call to ask if I could go to the site to chat to the tiler to make sure the tiles & feature tiles are laid the way I wanted which was really good of him. Re: Porter Davis homes 7328May 20, 2013 11:22 pm Hi tinker, We had contract for our Hoffman today. We tried to get a heating vent in the study as it will be our lounge room. We added 1400 from the family room into the study so we hoped that we would be close enough. There are no service ducts near enough to the study to get a heating vent in there. We are putting a provision for a fireplace in there, and there are three vents in the back half of the house, one in the passage outside so we think it will be ok. Pm me if you have any other questions happy to help. Cheers Back Pocket Re: Porter Davis homes 7329May 21, 2013 9:16 am ![]() ![]() That is a bummer. We didn't get a call like that but our SS knows we're over an hour away so he probably wouldn't have asked anyway. Such a shame we couldn't get down to look at the build earlier and bring it up before they finished the 3 rooms! Our plans had everything listed clear as day! If he had bothered to read the plans properly there is no way he could have missed it. I think he was just on autopilot! Anyway our SS's manager offered to credit us back for the tiles but I just know I can't shower everyday looking straight at those tiles thinking "I wish they hadn't stuffed that up"! Especially because you will be paying for it for the next 25-30 years over the life of your mortgage. If it is clear on the plans, then they should fix it properly! Re: Porter Davis homes 7331May 21, 2013 3:01 pm We still have no idea on when our land will title or settle. The conveyancer doesn't know yet either. We were told about a month ago it should be June. How much notice do they give? Is it one month, or can it be as little as a week or two? Re: Porter Davis homes 7332May 21, 2013 3:03 pm ![]() ![]() ![]() That is a bummer. I agree here, they have entered into a contract with you that stipulates the requirments for them to deliver the tiles the way it's been specified in the plans. As the person before me stated, I would be getting them to redo it. The tiles need to be done as per plans. You will be reminded of this everytime you enter the shower and you shouldn't have to live with that. Sorry to hear this and its your choice how to deal with it but I really think you should get them to fix it, there is really no defense for them not to. Re: Porter Davis homes 7336May 21, 2013 6:26 pm was never going to take the credit of $1000 to cover 3 wet areas. The construction manager started pulling the shower frames, taps and rails down today to get a move on things, It is a pain but these things happen.
