Just trying to find out a rough price, want to do CBUS lighting, tie in the AC/heating and also home entertainment at a later time. May also look at CBUS blinds Re: Porter Davis homes 7264May 12, 2013 9:26 pm Ahhh, if only I were that brave! Would just be afraid of it dating quicker Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Porter Davis homes 7267May 13, 2013 1:01 pm ![]() Can anyone recommend a good building inspector for south eastern suburbs? I'm thinking this is the way to go. Also, what stages should we get an inspector for? Hi, we are using Houspect Inspections, others have also mentioned New Homes Inspections. If you search those names you will find their contact details a little earlier on this thread with discussions around them also. HD Re: Porter Davis homes 7269May 13, 2013 2:57 pm Nique01, I had a chance now to look up Houspect Inspections details: HOUSPECT VICTORIA Phil Kennedy phone. (03) 9808 4000 / 1300 294 388 fax. (03) 9511 0203 email. info.vic@houspect.com.au web. www.houspect.com.au/victoria/ post. PO Box 2521, Mt Waverley Vic 3149 These are the 5 stages they do. Price would be give or take 2K, depending on the size of your house. I think it is money well spent. As someone else commented a while ago, we spend money on upgrading things, so this sort of money is worth it to ensure that everything is completed well and as per standards. 1) Slab down/base 2) Framework (walls and roof frames) 3) Lock-up (Roof covering, external walls, doors) 4) Fit out/Fixing 5) Practical Completion Re: Porter Davis homes 7270May 13, 2013 3:37 pm Since Friday I have driven past the house 3 times to have a sticky beak whilst the carpenters were there. (I have an obsession with driving past!). All 3 times I have found them sitting on their Eskis' having a foodie break - LOL! I know, I know, they need to refuel. I can guarantee that they are doing a lot of work as some amazing work is taking place as the framing of the 1st floor is going up. I will head their later today and take some pictures (my other obsession!). I think we finished around 2pm (started at 9am or so and had a 30min break in between appointments). Colours went well however I was disappointed at the bath offerings for the Lifestyle range. The bath on display in the display home was actually an Access/Prestige bath which we "don't have access to". I'll be pushing for that bath because quite frankly, I think the standard bath looks too square and the upgrades are all spa baths! Electrical went well however I missed the part at the beginning where the lady said that we don't get an itemised quote with pricing. I asked for it at the end and was told no. I get all the items listed but just a total figure. Surely I am well within my rights to ask for a price next to each of the items? What if I want to change things?! I have no idea how much they cost and am just taking their word for it that the pricing adds up to the total. Hmmmmmm. PD, I think that needs to change! Other than those two things, and an issue with whether we get access to Essa Stone or Caesarstone benchtops, we are all sorted!!! ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 7273May 14, 2013 10:30 am I am so with you on the "we don't have access to" part. Most of the lifestyle options are quite cheap looking expecially given the price you are paying for the house. Which is weird because access is supposed to be the "first home buyers" and prestige is the "premium". Too bad the floorplan that suits us is a lifestyle house and the inclusions that suit us are prestige! Ridiculous when you consider we will pay for what we want Re: Porter Davis homes 7274May 14, 2013 10:40 am Total agree! This is my big issue. If a product is in a lifestyle display, it should be available for lifestyle customers to put in their homes! It's totally unfair. I'm waiting to hear back from SC but seriously considering cutting my losses ![]() So, ftdt, did you get Caesar or essa? Got some pics of your colours? Building the Porter Davis Dunedin 29 maybe, thinking of forfeiting deposit and going with CH or UE Re: Porter Davis homes 7275May 14, 2013 10:48 am Backpocket & Mumtomonkeys - I'm working on the bath side of things. Happy to select taps, toilets, basins from the range as I found something that worked and I liked. Not happy with the bath! And the bath on display was an Access bath. I'll let you know how I get on ![]() As for the Essa stone/Caesarstone issue. I am waiting to hear back. All of our quotes were done in December so when our details came up in the system yesterday, it said we had the choice of Essa or Caesar. Normally it just says Essa for all new clients. So I am hoping *fingers crossed* that we can get it as there is only one colour in the Cat 1 Essa and Caesar range that works with our colour scheme! I'm about to dart into a meeting but I do have photos of my colours and will post when I get back out! ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 7276May 14, 2013 8:46 pm Anyone who hasn't yet sgined up and thinking about it!! Head down to Williams landing and see Esther, she has helped us over and beyond any sales consultant should!! Without Esther I don't think we would of got this far! She is amazing!! She Has great knowledge of the poter Davis range! I couldn't recommend her enough!! We still call past to check out the new Waldorf and say hi to Esther!!! Re: Porter Davis homes 7277May 14, 2013 9:10 pm good to hear what you have all been up to! ftd, what kinds of items did you add in your electrical. Looking forward to seeing your colour selection pics! Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Porter Davis homes 7278May 14, 2013 10:18 pm Hi All, first time writer, long time lurker ![]() Anyway, we are at tender stage. Having a multitude of problems. Have read thru the thread and have various problems of what others have experienced. ftdt7882, I find pricing transparency a major issue with them also. I went and did my colour selection with my friend and asked for the bulk of the prices to be included in the tender so we have time to work out whether we can afford what we have chosen. We do electrical next week so I am interested to see how it goes! PS, I think Essa is really expensive. We chose a cat 3 which was phenomenal! I think caesarstone is heaps cheaper so keep pushing for it. ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 7279May 14, 2013 11:39 pm ![]() Electrical went well however I missed the part at the beginning where the lady said that we don't get an itemised quote with pricing. This is definitely a change. We did our Electrical back in Feb and we could see the costs add up as we went along. They were on the screen in front of us as we went. It was a new computer program they were using (1-2 weeks into it with teething issues). Mind you recently we had a building variation and noticed that all the pricing was now missing from the document so I have requested this from my BC. Astonished that it has changed. We actually included some things because we could see the cost and balance up our choices.
