I wouldn't stress about it as its a day work. Re: Porter Davis homes 6073Sep 14, 2012 12:06 am Evening everyone... been a long time since we've posted on here. Seems like a lot of new builds have kicked off and are generally going well, which is great to hear. Building (with PD or not) can be very trying, and having come out the other side being extremely happy with our house, all I can say is - know your build, hold your ground, be fair and courteous, and ask as many questions as you need to. We booked in our 3 months maintenance today, with an appointment next Friday. The list we have is fairly small, which is good. For those of you who are interested, our blog has finally been updated after nearly 3.5 months! Big change from a regular weekly update! Hope you get a chance to have a look ![]() Best of luck! Awesome Rups! ![]() ![]() We had a lot of issues as well when we took the over our house but your issues seemed to be a lot worse than ours. Good to see you got it all fixed.... for us... umm... not so lucky. The newest issue is our driveway cluster F but im way to upset to comment on it right now, and that wasn't even done by PD. Long story short, house was late, all money for getting fences driveway landscaping was eaten up by late build. Back in debt after fences, driveway, blinds (still haven't arrived), backfill for lawn(still needs more dirt so no lawn yet) excavation costs and other issues but now with no money to fix them... and a nice chunk of debt to live with (and a bad driveway). Over 2 years since we put the deposit down now. Only been in a month and wish id never set foot down this path.... I used to believe that you make your own luck... now I believe that God just hates me. Hi Rups, Great to see you back on this forum, I have said that before and will say it again...your house looks terrific!! And hats off to you for accepting the house at handover with all the issues that required rectification. We don't think we'd have the courage to accept the house the way did...we've heard so many stories of calls not being answered and tasks not being completed after the final payment. We have been promised all the issues we raised will be rectified before handover. Remember in your one of your forum you mentioned that you'd your landscaping through PD, if you don't mind can you please PM us how much did it cost you to upgrade to exposed aggregate with the PD contractor (we have been informed that all upgrades are to be dealt with the concretor). I believe PD uses only Boral for expose aggregate, is it of good quality ? Did you do your aprons around the with the PD contractor too. Cheers - J & C Re: Porter Davis homes 6077Sep 14, 2012 2:33 pm ![]() Hi Rups, Great to see you back on this forum, I have said that before and will say it again...your house looks terrific!! Cheers - J & C Hi J&C - Thanks for your kind words ![]() Just to be clear, we didn't accept the house with any outstanding defects, aside from a few missing electrical things which we were happy to wait until Appliance Day to resolve (and they did in good faith, they just failed dismally on that day!). Things went wrong on Appliance Day, and it wasn't that they ignored us - it was just a slow resolution... and the drain problem really couldn't have been found out any other way! Everything that was defective or of poor quality was resolved before handover, which is why it was delayed a week. All of our concrete and landscaping was done privately. PD didn't supply it. Our driveway is in exposed aggregate, the side path in coloured concrete and the front apron in plain concrete in preparation for a deck that will wrap around the facade. All this work was done by Nathan Porter Concreting, and come highly recommended (but I think he only does this side of town). The total cost for this, including 2 x drains on the side path, some concrete for the mailbox and sealing of the aggregate and colour was $5,500. The driveway was roughly $2,700 all done. Re: Porter Davis homes 6078Sep 14, 2012 3:17 pm Does anyone else have a doorway like this? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Where the door from the garage to back yard is it looks like the frame is too high. We noticed it once the bricks were done, and mentioned it to our SS after plaster and he said it was normal and they do blah blah blah (I may have not been paying attention, or I may have not understood) to make it right. But the plaster has now been painted and nothing's changed. The brickwork above the door looks terrible (ie, no care taken with the mortar like the back of all the brickwork, but all but this part was covered with plaster). We can't check out the displays, because the garage in the displays is either an office or off limits. I just can't imagine how they will fix it now that it's painted. Anyone have any experience or insight? (ETA - this obviously isn't the most recent picture, but it's the best one I have of the problem) Re: Porter Davis homes 6080Sep 14, 2012 3:28 pm Thanks Wateman, I find it really strange. You'd think that if it was standard they'd at least take a little more care with the brickwork up there ![]() Wow that is terrible about the insurance!
