We've added a few bits and pieces more along the way! Re: Porter Davis homes 5843Aug 02, 2012 1:08 pm ![]() Hello Ebony, thanks for the welcome. We really love the design of the Drysdale and can't wait until we can call it home. We have decided to get an independent inspector in once the roof trusses are completed which should be later on this week. We are really pleased with the progress so far however we are a bit concerned that on two areas of the slab, it has crumbled and broken away. Hopefully an independent inspection won't find any issues and will give us peace of mind. Hi jessjjj, Yes, there is nothing like taking the first few steps into your brand new home! Just regarding the crumbling concrete on your slab, it’s expected to be worried about these types of things, especially if this is your first build, but don’t be shy about speaking to your SS about these things either, along with having your independent inspector check it out too - I agree with you about peace of mind. Have you started up your own thread of blog yet? It’s great to way to keep a visual journal of your build. Cheers, Ebony Porter Davis Homes Questions? I've still trying to get a few items resolved, one from our 3 month inspection, the rest from the 12 month one, and despite several emails to Maintenance have not had any succcess. I would appreciate your help: 1. Lock on powder room still to be fixed. This is still outstanding from our 3 month inspection. 2. The locksmith said that the bifold door is not aligning and needs to be fixed, also a plate from the front door deadlock is missing. 3. Last but not the least, the balcony leaks. I showed this to the supervisor and he said it was the rain coming through. The tradies who visted on a bright sunny day saw the water that had collected and pinpointed the leaks but said they could not fix it. There are streaks down the sides of the bricks and the moisture is clearly visible on the underside of the balcony and they confirmed that this shouldnt occur. These show the water that pools in the balcony leaking through. I think the water shouldnt be pooling in the balcony either as it get stagnant and mossy, this makes it unsafe. Love the house, these are few niggling things though are still that need to be sorted. Thanks, Karen Hi Karen, I’m really well thank you, glad to hear you are loving your home though you have these little niggling issues which I can understand would be frustrating for you. I appreciate you contacting me and have send your issues over to the main PD office for them to follow up with the appropriate team. Be sure to keep in me the loop with the progress on this. This is definitely handy to know the prices as it will help be a guide to decide which upgrades are important and make sure cost in under control, I wonder why PD is not making this available at Hopetoun. Thanks for everyone who has contributed and I will add mine when available. My tender is booked for Monday. Has anyone else encountered the same can you post a pic. Sometimes bricks have hairline cracks and it's perfectly normal. Re: Porter Davis homes 5849Aug 06, 2012 2:38 pm We have just signed up to build the Sandarah and I am very excited. Now we have all the fun of making sure we have included everything we want in our house. I am trying to make myself a budget and trying to get an idea of costs. Electricals is the one area I have no idea about. I have been looking at everyone's blogs to get an idea. I am trying to understand what the Electrical packs are and what they offer. When I look at other peoples blogs, they talk about Fibre packs. Is it something that we will probably need? We have a fibre pack because we are in a fibre estate, so we need it to connect to the fibre optic network for internet, phone, paytv etc. But I have no idea on the details (it was important to my hubby that we were in a fibre estate so electrical was his domain), so hopefully someone else can help you ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 5851Aug 06, 2012 3:11 pm I haven't gotten around to updating the blog after Saturday's visit yet, but it was a bit disappointing. We knew that work had stalled for some reason or other and the completion of the fixing stage was delayed, but it's the first time we've been out and seen hardly any change. Our bulkhead has been installed (still seems strange to me that they would do it after the cornice), and there's lots of circles scribbled on the walls, presumably someone needs to do something in those spots. Architraves are progressing, almost complete, BUT we realised they've used the wrong architraves ![]() Our side fence is complete, but our neighbour is complaining that our incomplete gutters are directing water onto his property and he can't have his driveway poured because of it. Prior to that it was at a very fast pace. We have also received the final invoice and there are heaps of issues yet to be addressed. I've not see you on this site for a while, how is your new house and landscaping progressing. Hi J&C, landscaping is a huge undertaking but it's starting to take shape. I'm finishing a 7m x 6m Merbau deck which is looking fantastic. I now understand why companies charge so much to lay decks, its such a time consuming process..... My deck is spot on level and built better than a professional company would have built. I used 21 concrete stumps, F17 (hard) wood bearers and the rest. Cost around $4.5k. This weekend I'm working on the alfresco extension and merbau box seats... which I can't wait. How is your place coming along?
