Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Porter Davis homes 5541Jun 05, 2012 3:38 pm Thanks Rups. And thank you for ur recommendation of new home inspections.
The window stain colour will be satin black and hopefully will look nice with the colour of the render which will be mud pack. Jnkbids good luck with your build and the Waldorf is a nice home. Re: Porter Davis homes 5542Jun 05, 2012 3:45 pm Hi jc our home inspector said the same. It was approx. 10mm out in the kitchen as you can see the pics in our blog. Gave the report to our s/s last Friday and said he will attend to the issue. Apparently they can rectify the problem I am concerned every time time it rains. I'm so glad Rups gave me the name of new home inspections. It's the best money we have spent and a peace of mind. Re: Porter Davis homes 5543Jun 05, 2012 3:56 pm NHI are very good at what they do, and have a good rep in the building industry. Our SS knew our inspector by name when he turned up to have a look through, which is a good sign. Re: Porter Davis homes 5544Jun 05, 2012 8:26 pm ![]() Hi jc our home inspector said the same. Hi Ma2531 how is your site supervisor trying to rectify this issue considering the frames are already up (same as us). Our inspector informed us that they can use some leveler but that's seems to be a band-aid fix. What are your possible next steps to rectify this situation. Re: Porter Davis homes 5545Jun 05, 2012 11:52 pm ![]() Which one is structurally more superior than another,Bulkhead above the kitchen cupboards is MDF or Plaster boards (frame) ? Hey Nicole I had a 2 door cupboard installed above the fridge cavity and the bulkhead above that to the ceiling was MDF. The MDF bulkhead is recessed about 2 cms from wall. I dont like it as it looks busy being recessed and there's 2 kinks in the cornice too from the wall back 2cms each side to the MDF. I actually think it was because they forgot the cupboard and bulkhead and the original fridge cavity was corniced. When I queried if this could be smoothed out they told me it was normal for MDF. The house next door has a smooth wall above their cupboard above the fridge cavity. I was told this was because it was plaster not MDF. In all honesty, now that all the nice things are going in (I got the key last week), I dont notice it and dont care, but if I had the choice again, I'd def go plasterboard not MDF only to hide the recessed issue... but all in all, not a biggie. I can send you some pics if you PM your email address (dont know how to upload pix here...) Re: Porter Davis homes 5546Jun 06, 2012 12:02 am ![]() ![]() ..I want to reassure you that there is only 1 of me and that if you ever you require any further assistance from me that you please ask me or send me a private message as I’m always delighted to help or escalate issues where possible. Cheers, Ebony Hi Ebony, Any chance you could help me (hopefully) one last time? The lock on our rear garage door does not fit our key at all. The lock is completely different to the rest of the house. Hey mate That's so crap, I had handover last week and my garage access door deadlock didn't kick over. The locksmith was there 2 working days later to rectify. It's these little things that are really annoying. One call to organise and we'd be so much happier. Lift your game PD ! Grrr Mikey PS My original message was flagged, too angry I guess Re: Porter Davis homes 5547Jun 06, 2012 8:07 am Hi j&c I guess we're are getting the band aid version but I will let u know as soon as it is rectified, I guess we just have to have great faith in our building s/s. It's only three months into our build and am a bit over it all already, now I'm just going to let our s/s do his job and not get stressed about it. I'm not going to expect anything happening from week to week, with the build, so then when it does start all happening we Will be happy. Hi Humble. Hope you've settled into your house well. As you know we are building the kallara 33. Can you please take a look at my pic and let me know if your alfresco looks the same in terms of the mortar being so un-even? On the Glosswood website it says that PD use their products. Would love to see the white up on ceiling first before ordering. My soil report mentioned drainage is poor so I'm worried the water will pool into the slab during this winter. Thanks Lib Re: Porter Davis homes 5558Jun 08, 2012 3:23 pm Feeling a bit down today. Not feeling confident about our build anymore and it seems we will more than likely have to pull the plug. We were lured in with the promise of $20k off the land. $10k from the developer and $10k from PD and also sweetened with a 5% deposit on the land and developer to pay the deposit on the house. Only to find out after nomination forms were sent out that this was not the case. The nomination forms stated a 10% deposit and after speaking to someone at PD this was confirmed the case. Apparently the 5% was asap and the other 5% was to be at settlement with the discount to apply to the building contract (which I'm assuming is the developer deposit payment). It's still 10% which ever way you look at it but that was definitely not the way it was explained to us. Come to think of it, not much was explained to us in detail. Now I have no issue with the 10% but more the misleading nature in all of this. We worked around the 10% and now are trying to find out the legitimacy of the $20k discount. I'm still awaiting a response from our BC to an email I sent yesterday regarding the issue. Then with the bank valuation in the mix and the high potential for them to under value the property we will more than likely have to call it quits. If it goes under by $10k we will probably be ok but anymore and we are definitely in trouble. There also talk of how any rebates are written in to the contract and their potential to devalue the property. There have been a few other things that were said that now make me question every verbal response I received. When I asked if there were estate/design guidelines I was told not really and not to worry. After doing my research there seems to be quite a few guidelines indeed. Most don't bother me, they still exist and to be told they don't really is a bit disheartening. What else was I mislead to believe when finalising our plans? Were the response to my questions regarding Carbon Tax, Builders Insurance, 6 star energy ratings and other important details all wrong? How would I know? Where do you get a straight answer from? If I had more money backing me it's worth the risk of finding out down the track, but with little capital I can't see how we will manage should massive charges we have not allowed for come into play along with all the other issues. Best of all I have all LONG weekend to stew about it until I get confirmation regarding these issues ![]() Re: Porter Davis homes 5559Jun 08, 2012 7:05 pm I'm feeling the same koukli going to talk to Carlisle homes tomorrow as PD have dropped the ball. Quite a few people have said to me that PD are now as bad as Me***con and Carlisle are the old PD. Such a shame to a well respected brand but that's what happens when they think they're too good for us common people ![]() Still Waiting for Titles!!!! Re: Porter Davis homes 5560Jun 08, 2012 10:19 pm I'm sorry your not having much luck either ![]() I'm a bit put off with the whole building thing now.
