Each morning ring your SS/BC and make subtle comments about the wastage and how horrible it would be if it happened to them. They'll soon get the idea and pay up!!!! Still Waiting for Titles!!!! Re: Porter Davis homes 5324May 14, 2012 11:31 pm On a serious note has anyone (I'm expecting everyone) had PD do the "telstra Underground trench". What does this involve in terms of labour and materials? The only reason I ask is at $462 it better be more than 10m of conduit and a hole in the ground!! Still Waiting for Titles!!!! You still have to pay telstra the $300 to connect also. Regardless which way you went. Call Julian from Astrotech on 0438 190 479. Re: Porter Davis homes 5326May 14, 2012 11:53 pm ![]() ![]() We are just in first phase our building construction, the footpath and the crossover to our block have been damaged by the builder when they were scrapping the site, what should be our next steps? At this stage I have just sent the photos to our building coordinator. How does one load photos on this blog ? Hey J&C Porter Davis do a check on the crossovers before the site start so they should have a record of the undamaged crossover. After the build they also assess the crossover and repair any damage At this stage, I'd just take a photo with a date stamp, email the BC and then deal with it at PCI way down the track. Then at least you can refer back to your email later. But they will fix it.... Thanks Mikey, done that and have received an acknowledgement from our BC that it will be repaired prior to handover. I am becoming bitter and twisted, but mine was never fixed (nothing major) just a chip. But it was never fixed. Dont even get me started on Maintenance. /grumpy Re: Porter Davis homes 5328May 15, 2012 9:38 pm Got a call yesterday from my SS asking to meet at the house today to discuss some stuff. Met up with him and it was great to see the house on the inside. First on the agenda was the pantry benchtop that I hate and SS is seeing if they can get a bullnose in the 20mm laminate (or pencil round) and he will fix it. Hats off to PD on that one as they don't have to but it's a compromise on the staircase so agreed to paint the staircase stringer black and am going to move on on that front. Decision needed to be made about the main bathroom as the cabinet doesn't meet the bath hob (out by about 100mm) so would have a weird little gap. Usual fix (ongoing design fault!) is to shorten the cabinet by 150mm but my preferred fix is to extend the hob to the cabinet. This means that the end cupboard may need to become drawers but that would be perfect for us as somehow we missed the lack of drawers in the bathroom. It's so funny that you pore over your plans etc and still miss the most basic of things you'd want. Got to look at my caesar stone on the kitchen bench (no join as promised) and in our ensuite. Can't wait to see it all finished! Plumbers were there doing the plumbing fit off inside and gutters. Painters were busy working, did I mention how excited I was that we talked to them last week??? They were going to paint the inside of our external doors the same colour as outside! Checked that again with SS and he said that Hopetoun should have noted our request to have internal colour the same as the internal paintwork, I would have been very unimpressed especially as we asked specifically about it at colours. Overall we are really happy with the build and our SS is great. He said that he thinks we're a June finish but I've told him we don't need it to be hurried just done well. SS mentioned that we were a week behind as a SS in Melb had left and left a mess so his trades (including painter) had to go and fix up some stuff. Hope that hasn't affected one of you guys! ![]() On a serious note has anyone (I'm expecting everyone) had PD do the "telstra Underground trench". Re: Porter Davis homes 5329May 15, 2012 10:18 pm Hi everyone, I am in a bit of a sticky situation regarding Porter Davis. I have fallen in love with the Kallara 33 which is on display at Point Cook. I took my husband through the home over the weekend and he agreed with me that it is what we'd call our 'dream home' however the consultant there was difficult to work with. We asked to get a quotation based on an 'as displayed' price as PD don't really have what I would call a 'list of standard inclusions' like most builders but it was absolutely ridiculous at how much questioning we had to go through to even get the consultant to agree to send us through a quotation. Overly frustrated, my husband and I decided to leave it at that and maybe try another PD display centre that actually wanted our business. For me, I guess customer service and how far the person selling the product is willing to go for the consumer is really a big deal and Mainvue really won me over. Did anybody else have the difficulty myself and my husband had just to simply get a quotation made up? Overly frustrated, my husband and I decided to leave it at that and maybe try another PD display centre that actually wanted our business. We were on our way back to our car and stumbled across Mainvue Homes and I'm glad we did. I thought I was amazed by the Kallara 33 - wait until you check out Mainvue's Amalfi AM632. It was everything you need in a dream home - an amazing sized master suite, walk in linen and because I love to cook, I was sold with the walk in butler's pantry. We walked back through the sales office and the girls there kindly gave us all the information we needed - from a list of standard inclusions to a rough 'as displayed' price on the home. When we asked if we could get an as displayed quote produced, there was no hesitation and their consultant was right on it. As promised, we received the quotation later that evening. For me, I guess customer service and how far the person selling the product is willing to go for the consumer is really a big deal and Mainvue really won me over. Did anybody else have the difficulty myself and my husband had just to simply get a quotation made up? Who was the sales guy. We built the Kallara 29, and delt with Saltwater coast.. it went really well. Re: Porter Davis homes 5332May 16, 2012 8:29 am ![]() Overall we are really happy with the build and our SS is great. My SS was replaced which sort of meant another week or two delay (in Week 37 now). That was 2 weeks ago so the new SS is on top of it now. As far as I know, PD had a little restructure and a few SS's were moved to other roles in the company. I guess some might of also left the company. Re: Porter Davis homes 5333May 16, 2012 8:54 am ![]() Sorry to hear that things are going well for you after handover, other than the maintenance stuff are you happy in your house? The house is fine. Maintenance, Water Bills are the biggest issues. We are happy with the house, and love it. But yer it has tarnished our experience which was amazing up until handover. Re: Porter Davis homes 5334May 16, 2012 10:03 am Hi everyone, Quick update we are now in our house and loving it! I thought the day would never come. We accepted the house without the render being done and a storm water drain to the patio as there was so much rain which delayed it, but we emailed our BC and SS daily until it was done which was 2 and 3 days later. Fortunately i am home for 2 weeks to make sure all is done. We had a leak under one of the ensuite and they had a plumber out the next day. If anything comes up we email the BC and call the SS and it usally gets answered right away which is different from during the build. Our SS actually asked us the other day to not email our BC as he gets in trouble we replied saying if you actually returned phone calls we wouldnt have to email her and the SS then said your right, so he now returns calls and if he doesnt we email the BC. All in all yes the build had stressful moments but now we are in everything is great and running smoothly. I hope everyone else's build are still going smoothly and start packing a few weeks early because the move in date comes up quick. We thankfully had a lot of help unpacking and only now have maybe 10 boxes in the garage which have a few items we need to look at. Best of luck everyone! I will let you know when our blog is updated with pictures. Let them know whats going on. Send them photos as well. The council definitely WONT replace a crossover damaged during a build. They will ask the owner to pay to have this replaced / repaired. But PD adds this to their contracts that they replace / repair / pay for any damage. That's why they capture a condition report on it. Whether they honour this... I don't know Humble... Porter Davis homes 5336May 16, 2012 3:49 pm Soooooo impatient for our build to start! I feel like we are in limbo! Waiting waiting.
