Porter Davis homes 5202Apr 29, 2012 4:11 pm ![]() Congrats Wateman! Now the real fun begins! I never got a gift from PD so lucky you! Ask for it, you have paid for it. I think it's a BBQ utensil kit for Prestige. Re: Porter Davis homes 5204Apr 29, 2012 8:55 pm Hi J&C. If you start in Summer, all the earthworks and outdoor construction activities (slab, frame, roof, bricks) can get done with minimal chance of delays due to wet weather (although if it gets too hot, then they can't work either). That's my preference... but factor in landscaping that would need to be done coming into Winter, which could be a bit muddy swamp... Our blog is updated with all the week's happenings too... Thanks Rups...in addition to the above does constructing in winter have any impact on the slab or the frame...From some reading I have done, it used to have an impact in the past but not any more with the advancement in building technologies. I am not sure if this is true as there is a lot of information on the net...so I thought I'd check the reality with people that have started their construction in autumn / winter months. By the way your house is coming up well and looks terrific! Re: Porter Davis homes 5206Apr 30, 2012 12:00 pm ![]() Well, we are in! Still plenty to do, the past two days have been pretty hectic, but we are nearly there. Have found a couple of very small issues with the house we didn't spot earlier (they forgot a light in the hall, the switch is there but no light!) but overall very happy with the house and service in general. We got a Jamie Oliver chopping board and cookbook as our gift from PD which was nice. I didnt expect anything with all the trouble we were to begin with lol! Will work on some pics soon Hi Wateman, Congratulations on the move, glad to hear you liked your gift! Can’t wait to see some pictures! ![]() Porter Davis Homes Questions? What an exciting time! Did you use removalists?? We are moving the same day we settle which will most likely we a very ehctic day but we want to get in. Cant wait to see pictures:) Were were going to settle today but because it was going to sit there for a week before we moved in we decided to leave it in PD's hands and extra 4 days. e had minor touch ups and the major being the need to re-finish the edges of the garage floor. So fingers crossed they can get all the work done, we still haven't received our cert. of occupancy and the bank wont issue the final check without. So hopefully we can still settle friday. best of the luck for the next couple of weeks getting moved in Forrestdale 27 Land Titled:4/11/11 Building Permit:4/11/11 Site Start Date: 16/11/11 Slab Date: 01/12/11 Frame Date:05/12/11 http://hordefamilyhome.blogspot.com/ Re: Porter Davis homes 5208Apr 30, 2012 3:56 pm Congratulations Wateman! Re: Porter Davis homes 5210Apr 30, 2012 7:49 pm Our BC informed us that even though we had two zones our heating had only one thermostat. We were charged 1067. When we went over for our construction drawings appointment we were informed we will have to pay more for another thermostat. The new quote states "Provide 1 No additional programable thermostat to accomodate 2 zone controls" The original read as "Provide 2 zone controls to single storey ducted heating system" - $1067 Is this the case with everyone that have opted for two heating zones. Re: Porter Davis homes 5211Apr 30, 2012 10:08 pm Looking into some C-BUS stuff for my build / post build. Anyone know what PD charges for the following? Light switches using home runs (e.g. all the way back to switch board) Light switches in conduit? Empty Conduit with no blanking plates? (anyone done this by their self? howd you go about it?) Has anyone else used video intercoms made by these companies. Samsung quoted us $699+$399 for an additional monitor. Is this a good price. Hi J & C, Hopefully you’ll get some responses from the forum members but also feel free to ask your BC, they might have advice about prices and suppliers. Good luck with getting it sorted. Has this happened to anyone else? Our contract says stainless steel, however we are not sure if we like it or not. It feels nicer than the SS ones, we just have to decide whether to leave it or get PD to honour the contract. Might wait until the tapware is in to see how it looks then. Very American.
