Re: Porter Davis homes 5144Apr 19, 2012 11:44 am ![]() Hi everyone! My husband and I have been stalking this thread and some of your blogs for a while now. We will be building a Drysdale 30 in Mandalay Estate in Beveridge (Vic). It's not our first home but it is our first build, so we've already benefitted heaps from reading your experiences. Building is due to start in May. Last week we did our colour, electrical and tile selections and contract is tomorrow! I have started a blog (link in signature). I don't think it's very interesting yet ![]() ![]() Looking forward to sharing the experience! Hi monkeypants, Welcome to the forum, I’m pleased you’re building the Drysdale with PD, congratulations on completing your selection appointments. It’s so lovely to see how welcoming everyone has been. I look forward to following your build and please feel free to ask me any questions you may have along the way. Goodluck with your contract signing today and keep us posted on your progress ![]() Porter Davis Homes Questions? Any tips for a n00b¿ I have purchased the PCI checklist from http://www.anewhouse.com.au/ and have an extra person coming with that has an eye for detail, but I still want to make sure we don't miss anything! Re: Porter Davis homes 5147Apr 19, 2012 5:22 pm The most annoying things we missed were things you wouldn't expect to need to look for ... check the tiles in the bathroom for overspray by running your hands over them .. we didn't see ours. Check under the shower door that it's been done properly .. ours was a mess of grout and silicone and had to be fixed after we moved in, check that the silicone has been done in a tidy fashion - ours was a mess and had to be redone. The left hand side of the family room window isn't straight so there is a gap between the archiitrave and the window sill ... too hard to fix so we have accepted it and we had problems with the gutters at the front. Good luck on Monday - hope you don't find much wrong!! Howdy Wateman Well done mate... finally ! I'm hoping to get my PCI booked in for next week too. Having not been in in the house since the plaster went up, I dont want to get too distracted by how awesome it all looks. To keep focussed, I've gone through all my variation documents (20 I think) and made a list of ALL variations by room and the variation document it was on. With that and the electrical plan, I can tick off that I'll have what I wanted, then I can check the quality and finish of everything. I have had an independent inspection completed so that is a load off knowing he's gone through everything already. All in all, I think they have done a great job and although some things have have been missed or look a bit questionable, they are also sorted pretty quickly. All the best Mike Re: Porter Davis homes 5149Apr 20, 2012 11:18 am ![]() PCI on Monday morning! Don’t take the keys until all the issues fixed by PD...They don’t respond to phones or mails once we get the keys...We were in hurry to move into our new house during Easter break hence got the keys on April -5th with few outstanding Issues and also we found few more major issues after we moved in...Our SS suggested that he will get all of them fixed in next couple of weeks...But it’s more than 2 weeks and no one turned back to fix anything....we are keep on sending mails to BC and SS with most urgent issues but no one responding...there are so many minor issues but we asked below 10 as most priority and get it fixed immediately... we are living in our new house but not with 100% satisfaction and never ever expect this from PD....very frustrating ![]() ![]() 1. Leakage in garage just on top of ducted vacuuming unit 2. Range hood cover extension is not still installed and it looks very ugly to see aluminium foil – waiting for it from last 3 weeks 3. We have done pre wiring for down lights. But in Rumpus room, they have done wiring just under beam and unable to fix down lights – it’s very strange how could they do that when we asked for down lights pre wiring 4. Front render – did wrong colour combination and waiting for the renderer to change it from last 3 weeks 5. Lock is broken from garage to house access door and we feel this is more unsecured issue 6. Dead lock is not working for Laundry door 7. Rubber came out from bi fold door and wind \ dust coming from the gaps 8. Upstairs Toilet is over flowing with water 9. The Games floors outside the door of Bed 2 and 3 squeaks when walked upon as do the floors within these bedrooms and it’s very very irritating 10. The finished ground level down the left hand side of this home has not been finished to fall away from the edges of the slab Re: Porter Davis homes 5150Apr 20, 2012 12:34 pm Hi sammyjane and Ebony, thanks for the welcomes! I too have PCI next week on Tuesday and i am planning to take my time to make sure all is well to our standard. Our private inspector will have gone through that morning, so i will be able to review the report after to see if we found the same stuff or different - or if any....lol wishful thinking.
