I need your help\suggestion please.we are building a house with PD and building is nearly finished just few things to do – Balcony decking, front rendering, carpet. Now PD is doing decking to balcony but the problem is they do decking to balcony and leave it like that that means no ceiling to Porch.Just Imagine, when it rains the whole rain water will be in front of my front door .When we had a walk through with the sales consultant she said balcony will be decking but no one wouldn’t think that they don’t provide any provision for the rain water to drain from balcony.we gave a mail to our CSC a week ago but didn’t get a reply as always. She always replies back after 5 to 7 days.does anyone has the same type of situation. If so could u guys pls suggest me what to do.
Check your plans. It should show exactly how the balcony is to be constructed. Brickwork should have a slit in it (about the size of a brick length) where the water should drain out. It should also mention the waterproofing and tiles.
If you have not selected tiles yet then ring you CSA and tell him/her to send you an outdoor tile brochure. You could also contact national tiles and/or go to the showroom to select them. They should know the PD standard outdoor tiles and also give you advice on what might be an upgrade tile.
The older way PD did the balcony was to offer a decking option but apparently they have stopped doing balcony decking now and all new balcony's designs have tiles as a standard. Your balcony design might have been done around the crossover period so this could be why there is some confusion.
Best thing to do is get in touch with your CSA and explain it.
