Re: Porter Davis homes 4782Mar 08, 2012 2:30 pm cinderella_375 PS- Did anyone end up starting that Porter Davis upgrades price list thread? I think it’s a fantastic idea, it will help out people soooooo much. I’ve started some many other thread so I would love for someone else to start it. I reckon it will have heaps of interest and contributors. Re: Porter Davis homes 4783Mar 08, 2012 3:36 pm Ok. I am going to start it tonight with what I have so far (which isn't a whole heap seeings as though we haven't been to tile/colour/electrical yet) But should be interesting to compare and see... Re: Porter Davis homes 4784Mar 08, 2012 7:47 pm It feels like is all happening! Yesterday: Bifolds delivered and installed (looks fantastic) Today: Render started, internal doors delivered (wrong BIR doors though), skirting/architraves delivered, cabinetry delivered (wrong finish for bathroom and ensuite cabinetry, should be crystal gloss, they have delivered standard). Re: Porter Davis homes 4785Mar 08, 2012 8:15 pm thebigbuild So confused CCC, having a really hard time with 2 deaths; one in our family and one in our community, my dear friend with severe PND, my daughter in hospital with breathing issues 2 weeks ago and with the flu - our Au Pair is arriving in a week and we have no room for her and DOING OUR HEAD IN waiting for the house to be ready etc, etc etc. We were strung along SO much in the pre-construction stages being told that the house could be ready in March [we only signed after discussing this]. We are at the same stage as you right now so I dont really understand why but suddenly we are not expecting to be in until May. Having a really hard day! Or make that week. Anyone take a holiday near PCI? I can not take being in this rental for much longer. Hey BB, very sorry to hear that you're having such a rough time. I can't help with why it's taking you so long to get in. When are you contracted to? Really hope that things at your end start to pick up....an Au Pair sounds heavenly Rups It feels like is all happening! Yesterday: Bifolds delivered and installed (looks fantastic) Today: Render started, internal doors delivered (wrong BIR doors though), skirting/architraves delivered, cabinetry delivered (wrong finish for bathroom and ensuite cabinetry, should be crystal gloss, they have delivered standard). Sounds good Rups! Things happening here too. Lock up scheduled for end of next week. Stacker door frame and end panel in (!!) and our big window upstairs had the glass put in today. Got a call from our BC giving me dates for plenty of things being installed including ducted heating and cooling & brick wash of downstairs. Can't wait til scaffolding comes down....not sure how long that will take though. cinderella_375 Ok. Saw that Cinderella, not sure how long it will take me to do my list as we upgraded a lot! Re: Porter Davis homes 4786Mar 08, 2012 10:53 pm Thanks Mike. I might be really slow on the uptake, but do you have a blog or pictures of your house anywhere at all. Brushwood is on the list for consideration. I am going to get the addresses from Boral of places that have used bricks as suggested, but thought a photo or two to start might help?![/quote] Sorry, no blog or pic online (I don't know how and never thought to try...I'm a facebook man - how lame!) But check out this pic I found on google for "Boral Brushwood" viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3737&start=100 What's grown on me since picking it out of duress at Hopetoun with a pout lip and a tight partner that wouldn't raise my budget is the highlights from light to dark. Though it was awful on the pallets when delivered and i was sure they delivered the wrong bricks as all the 'stripes' run in a line on the pallet, but on the house, it just looks.. dare I say, sublime ! Could I have spend another 4K on my 2 story home on a different colour brick - sure, but picked within the range and still happy. I also like that it's not too common, but as long as you have a facade with interest. I saw a 2 story house in this and didnlt love it as it was a tad powerful in the 2 story model with no render to soften it... And I love it better than the monochrome bricks... ~8 weeks to go and pumped !! I'm not sure why our build has happened so much quicker then yours. When was your start date? Ours was Nov 7th.. Have you had any delays that could of push out your finish date? I hope things turn around for you xx Sent from my iPhone so please excuse my spelling mist cakes Building the Drysdale 30 Wallara Waters, Wallan My Blog : http://www.ourwallanhome.blogspot.com My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=50975 Re: Porter Davis homes 4788Mar 09, 2012 7:48 am Hey CCC. Our date was 24 Nov but it is more what we discussed before putting down our 1K (we needed to be in by Feb/Mar and others builders coudl do that for us, PD seemed to have a stupid long admin time) and then after taking our deposit everything was SO slow and we were ready to go and asking WHY it was taking so long and what could be done to speed things up and then our start date was put back to Nov then late Nov. Whenever we voiced concerns at that point we were told it was ok we would pick up time during the build. But that hasn't happened and our poor SS who is great has done his best but to maintain quality we were never going to pick up the time they lost us back then. We were just strung along. We did not budget for rent for this long and just logistically it is a PITA being where we are and really doing my head in. I would have liked an apology from PD for doing nothing to speed us through the initial processes of colour and tile appts etc which I found a huge time waste. Im only saying that because we were told that they would speed us through it and thats why we paid our deposit and then signed, not because I think I deserve it. Every time I tell them we are really having issues now because they actually couldnt do what we were told in Sales; they just dont know what to say and say.. not much. Re: Porter Davis homes 4789Mar 09, 2012 7:50 am They even told us tearly on that they called our SS and he had said we would build really quickly due to construction being quiet and that we would make up our time to be in at March. Re: Porter Davis homes 4790Mar 09, 2012 8:16 am the big build - I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a rough time. I hope that things at your end start to pick up! Met with the SS yesterday and the bricks were being acid washed and look amazing! I thought they looked great dirty so i was pleasantly surprised. The guy seemed like a bit a pain in ... as he had to stop while we walked throught the garage and gave me a dirty look! But got over that when I asked our SS when does he think PCI would be and he said the end of the month! I then asked when is handover after that 2 weeks he said 1 week! We both were very happy to hear. He did say the vandalism did set us back as they couldn't paint because they had to fix the plaster which will be completed by tuesday and then start painting:) He also said one of us will need to come back in 2 weeks to verify they have the right tiles and show the tiler any special accents we want done. Finally things are moving and we will be in there next month! SS said they will be addressing the water that is pooling in the patio/alfresco area by adding a drain and add dirt to have it drain away from the slab....cant wait not to see muddy pool!
