Have just discovered that Carlisle homes has not charged their customers builders delay charges if their titles have been delayed, why is PD charging their customers under such subdued market conditions when their house prices are dropping!

Interesting - definately makes you think about concreting the sides of the house....

Its not the concrete per see, its the slope, the water has to be pushed away from the house, it cannot be allowed to pool.

All,

Just been informed my SS is changing... Surprise surprise.
My SS informed me they have shut down the PD North Office and moved some of the staff back into the east office. Quite a few redundancies I suspect...
They must be really struggling for work at the moment...

Might be a few on this PD forum affected... Heads up...

Considering they doubled the home owner grant, (PD offering) I would say your right.

Your lucky Humble that yours has finished before all this has started...
In my opinion things will get worse before they get better in the building industry..
Thinking the next 8-12 months will be very interesting for anyone building - might see a few builders fall over this time... Thats my guess anyway
Just hope mine is done and dusted before it gets bad.

We also extended our build zone to include inner city suburbs, plus Ballarat and surrounds, in October last year. So there's plenty happening at Porter Davis! This blog has attracted over 40,000 hits in a sort time but only a mere 39 people following my journey which make me think that there are only 39 people who are interested. I’m thinking of limiting access to followers only... what are your thoughts before I do this? I have so much contents and info to share.

You might find some people bookmark the page instead of follow (this way you dont get spammed with every update) You having so many hits indicates there are more than just followers checking out your page.
Its up to you if you want to lock it down.

As long as you have concrete path or pavers set around the house and sloping away from the house then you should be fine. Our builder mentioned this to ensure no cracks develop.

I too have created a blog for our family and friends to follow however i don't believe they even look at it now. As I see it it's there for me to look back on and remember what we went through as a family, enjoy the moment and realise all our hard is starting to pay off and of course my fellow bloggers to look at.

I review all blogs that i have ask to blog- although I don't comment as I have been doing it on here.

If you lock it down I hope to still be able to view it! lol I'm not sure if I will have any tips or information for others but I find it VERY helpful when others like yourself do

Sorry, but I think this comes off as being a whole lot more narcissistic than you really intended it to be.

Does it really matter if the people reading your blog are signed-up followers or merely "window shoppers" who browse a wide variety of blogs for ideas and information without actually following all of them.

It's your blog and it's up to you in the end to decide the level of accessibility you want to provide on it, but as was mentioned above if you regularly visit 20-30 blogs as I do (yes I'm a card-carrying house building blog lurker I admit it) then being notified of updates for all of them becomes tedious after a while.

I do follow your blog on the sly, but if you restricted access to followers then I would not become one for the reasons mentioned above (which would be a shame because yours is one of the more entertaining and well thought out building blogs out there).

Hi Alpal,

No worries, I am here to help answer these types questions as we want our clients to be kept up date on what’s happening with PD and not feel like we are keeping you in dark.

PD is continuing with the same construction activity and display home presence in Melbourne’s North. All we have done is relocate the office and management functions into the West and East offices for our Northern jobs, which is the office structure we had before the North office was introduced. With one office relocating, we’ve opened the doors to exciting opportunities in Ballarat and the inner city! I hope this helps! Cheers, Ebony

I don’t intent to be narcissistic in anyway and I see your point, but to be honest I have no idea if it’s helping anyone. I get some occasional feedback and I constantly wonder if I should continue posting. If the blog helps you then become a member so I know, if no one cares then I’ll keep it private. I’m just trying to gauge what to do.

Hey T - I think you should keep the blog posts coming for all to see. We love reading them (and yes we are members), but many people who get the same value out of your blog may not have signed up for many and varied reasons. I'm sure there are many, many examples of people who keep up with your building tale without being signed up.

40,000 hits can't be achieved unless people know about it and love it!

Last but certianly not least, you can look back on your thoughts and emotions many years from now with a smile!
