Hi All,

Quick question....
Has anyone run their own cabling during the building works? I would like to run some CAT6 cable to 3-4 rooms and was wondering if anyone has done this and PD were OK with it...
Also when is the best time to do this - I am suspecting just before plastering

Any feedback would be great

Hi everyone,

We had hand over on 25th Nov, moved in on 3rd December and enjoyig the house

EXCEPT, for 1 major problem:

Our roof tile has not been placed over the gutter and there's a gap where birds has come through and set up their homes!!. We had heavy rain down in Tarneit and I believe that our insulation batts are all soaked! not to mention the plaster board in the ceiling and walls are probably damaged.

I had informed our BC and SS last week but up to today no action has been taken. I will update some of the photo's on my blog.

I was happy with PD up till now. Very upset and dissapointed that this issue was not addressed and rectified at the building stage. It looks like a design flaw.

I'll have to contact VCAT soon if I don't get a response from my BC and SS.

Might have to just do it one weekend just before pre plaster
Do they lockup the house prior to plastering?
Just trying to get an idea when they lock us out

My SS is always at my place so he is aware of all changes LOL... most SS don't go to all houses regularly and they won't know...

I need to run an HDMI cable and I talked to my SS about it - he said it was no problem to pop in and do it. I think the best thing to do is ask your SS first so it's all above board.

Can't - they are all Awning windows due to double glazing... ::sad::

Not that thin I'm afraid..

Will ask SS on Rups experience and see what happens first.
If he says no then they will arrive onsite one day to see this new cabling in ::lol::

Hi Ebony,
Thank you for forwarding my concern to the main office.

I had been in contact with my BC and she had thought the issue was being taken care of by my SS. The only problem is I have not heard from my SS for a while even after leaving messages on his mobile or via email.

As per my BC's email my SS is in a meeting today so I am still waiting on how and when this issue can be resolved. It just seems like this issue is not an urgent matter to PD.

I will keep everyone updated on this issue.

The roof frame started today. The ceilings look so high, especially the raked one in the lounge, which at its peak is 4m.

Also all the wooden windows and wooden door frames were delivered. Can't wait to see them in.

Another question from me...

When using the PD 24/7 portal there is a section for photos.. There isn't any photos of my house in it (it actually says that if there aren't any pics then construction of your house hasn't begun) My question is: Does anyone's 24/7 portal have photos to look through or is this another "great feature" that just isn't used?

Our 24/7 hasn't worked from day one. My BC said they don't really use it a whole lot and that I'm not really missing out on anything.. I'm not phased, but that may well be because I stalk my house every day anyway :lol:

Yep, I don't have any photos either. I does get used to show you your communications with your CSA and also shows you where you are in your build... although I did notice that the Lockup stage description gives the Fixing stage requirements and not the Lockup requirements :th:

. Fixing stage gives the Fixing stage requirements as well so I figure its not looked at that much by the web admins. Handy but nothing beats the email and phone call's to figure out where you are... of course, heading over to your site helps as well.
